Have you ever run across mysterious events in your life? I think some of you have had
inscrutable experiences once or many times. Now, with what kind of songs could be backround tunes to that moments? Maybe this three freak piece from 2006, which are really hard to find. These are quite addictive songs, were tried on myself. They sound like anything, that makes them unclassifiable. Sometimes it can be attractive to discover unusual things, that's why i'm writing this, it's for to discover other interesting sides of music. Well then, did you discover any mysterious or weird song in the year? Share with us or it'll be too late!

Deerhoof - Friend Opportunity
Rating: 8.4/10
Modern Music Review
By turns cuddly and chaotic, San Francisco's Deerhoof mixes noise, sugary melodies, and an experimental spirit into sweetly challenging and utterly distinctive music.
Redecorating the room nicely throughout, it sounds ordinary. Put chair there, i don't like that carpet. Is the picture right there? I need something different. How about Deerhoof's "Friend Opportunity"? This can be the most deserted review and i really don't mind it. I like to write what i feel to write. Because you listen the record and every person obtains different elegance. On the contrary, it's possible that to gain nothing . It can be your worst day, you can be broken or you don't give a shit. You find yourself listening Beach House's self debut. Actually there is a thing that always true about music, you should taste the music without forejudge , because every album has other good side except its bad sides. So Deerhoof's Friend Opportunity is a kind of record which covers its sadness with some sugary, amusing music. With an innocent voice (Satomi Matsuzaki), rhythmic guitars (Rob Fisk) and more quirky noises, including only few down tempo song it's entirely likeable listening. There are bands as if they're brothers, so Deerhoof's brother( or sister?) should be Blonde Redhead.
Outstanding first three song and weird closing tunes make you give another spin pleasantly.
I gave quite enough listen and i'm sure with one thing. "Friend Opportunity" is the record
that can give to everyone something different, something lovely. And close your eyes through the last song, "look away" is a quite successful experimental work.
Surely "Friend Opportunity" is as sweet as honeycomb, i know honeycomb isn't sweet, it's
honey. But still this weird expression is not enough to give an opinion about the album, addictive listen. Release date: January 23, 2007
MM picks:the perfect me, believe e.s.p,look away

Time Machine - punkkk!
If this post seems not useful, then you should look closer or Daddy will kick your ass! All right! now i remembered that there was a famous disco song named Daddy Cool by Boney M and did you hear the cover of Placebo. If you heard, you would laugh to Brian Molko's voice with your ass, child.
Placebo - Daddy Cool
00s Bloc Party
They say new album "Weekend in the City" not rocking like "Silent Alarm" but i haven't listened yet. We'll see what we need to see soon. But this always happens if you have a good debut record, they're going to speak ill of second one.
Bloc Party - Helicopter
90s Smashing Pumpkins
They're in studio! Album out soon! so We wait for it, don't we?
Smashing Pumpkins - Zero
80s Mission of Burma
Believe or not i feel quite silly myself whenever i listen to "Vs". But the most weird thing is i like this happy, silly, punky moments. Mission of Burma had the talent and vision to become one of America's great rock bands; if you want to listen some good punk music, listen them.
Mission of Burma - Einstein's Day (extremely great)
70s Patti Smith
"Horses" was a hybrid, the sound of a post-Beat poet, as she put it, "dancing around to the simple rock & roll song. It's not posibble to forget that pretty weird lady, her totally different album cover "Horses", and also a masterpiece!
Patti Smith - Break it up (great classic)
Ice, it was shining. I could feel my heart, it was melting. I tore off my clothes, I danced on my shoes. I ripped my skin open and then I broke through. I cried, “Break it up, oh, now I understand. Break it up, and I want to go.

Destroyer - Destroyer's Rubies
Rating: 9/10
Indie Rock
Before the new year , i wanted to write all good albums. So this is one of that high desired album which was previously relesead on Feb 21, 2006. I've been covered by Canadian Artists, i'm happy with that indeed.
Dan Bejar's seventh Destroyer record is as lyrically dense as ever, but marks a shift to a full-band, guitar-oriented sound after 2004's more eclectic 'Your Blues.' This a little neurotic, on and off joyful, and also lovely music lets to dream yourself as dancing with a bottle of whiskey in the room, and also your favorite song is playing on backround, yes and this favorite should be Destroyer's Rubies. This brilliant music -- borrowing as much from perfect names like David Bowie, Lou Reed. Lou Reed guitar noise, then into sweet Bowie harmonies, is what makes Destroyer's Rubies such a wonder. "Painter in Your Pocket" makes all of rings trembling, inside of you!
What makes "Destroyer's Rubies" a legitimately great album is that Bejar's clever
combination his voice with romantic guitars. Dan Bejar's voice is similar to Tom Verlaine, they are both affecting, touchy voices. Who says no to romantic guitar melody, charming lyrics, something that is both pleasant and painful? I don't say no, already i didn't say no to previous record of Destroyer. They're very brilliant same as "Destroyer's Rubies". After "This Night", "Destroyer's Rubies" is one of the best work that Dan Bejar dropped.
Every song is great, and every instrument works for their good, la la la! It is modest, lucid and tender.

Happy Holidays
Sometimes words aren't necessary, you just want to close your eyes and wishing, dreaming, willing...Have you ever think about the holy days in your life? Or you just celebrate them on the right time and after this you go on the same life. Like a little tablecloth, which you use it on right time, and at other times it doesn't mean anything to you. So these are the days to bring back the goodness that you should behave to other people.
mp3: Destroyer - Every Christmas
God rest ye merry, gentlemen, Let nothing you dismay --Remember Christ our Saviour-- Was born on Christmas Day-- To save us all from Satan's power-- When we were gone astray. --O tidings of comfort and joy, Comfort and joy; O tidings of comfort and joy!
mp3: Billy Idol - God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen
You know that everything depends to you in the life. You should see the right way even if there is no way.
There's no way out of here, when you come in you're in for good There was no promise made, the part you've played, the chance you took There are no boundaries set, the time and yet you waste it still

After all, believe yourself, i wish you a pleasant holiday season! And thank you very much for reading.

Queen of Voice
I know i haven't posted many female artists, but i haven't came across any impressive rock female artist in the year or you should let me know if i miss anything. Yesterday i read good news at Official Elizabeth Frazer that Liz's solo album due spring 2007. I started to play immediately my Cocteau Twins songs, and i got deeper with the god of voice.
Cocteau Twins were founded in Grangemouth, Scotland, in 1979. Taking their name from an obscure song from fellow Scots Simple Minds, the Cocteaus were originally formed by guitarist Robin Guthrie and bassist Will Heggie and later rounded out by Guthrie's girlfriend Elizabeth Fraser, an utterly unique performer whose swooping, operatic vocals relied less on any recognizable language than on the subjective sounds and textures of verbalized emotions.
As a favorite of mine, "Treasure" makes my finger trembling whenever i listen this masterpiece. The name which was chosen perfecly, and also it's right for its meaning, a genuine treasure. How can be a voice like this? Beatrix is the most magical, deep work of the record. The other one is Amelia. This two song explains why you should spend your hours on listening music! Cocteau Twins are a plain example of perfect sound composing. I can't explain the songs, why these are so beautiful? Music expresses that which cannot be said...“Until I don't know where you end and I begin”

Final Fantasy - He Poos Clouds
Rating: 8.7/10
Modern Music Review
It's one of the most fascinating musical release in the year for sure . Actually i'd write it at the last day of the year, but it's so powerful and everyday it encourages me more to write about "He Poos Clouds".
"He Poos Clouds" (Jun 13, 2006) reminds an alive violin, dancing arty in hidden place of a dark forest. And your role in the forest is listening this little living violin that is telling sophisticated stories to trees. The trees seem to like the stories, and they shows this gladness by shaking their branch, greeting wind. You don't see any figure around you , there is only "He Poos Clouds". Canadian violinist/singer/songwriter Owen Pallett shows his all abilitities on every song extremely, and also there are stories about demons and dragons. Epic lyrics and themes which are huge on this record, show his connections with an influential video game "Final Fantasy". I'd played final series of the game which is actually not a game but a complicated narrative imaginary story. In fact, the game is like an imaginary masterpiece. So it won't be ludicrous to influence by a video game. If you listen the record as a whole, you'll spend your time gleefully. Scott Walker is an music idol, no need to explain his influences in this record. It deserves the praises that are passionate, theatrical like the way it does.
From fresh forests to wild violin tunes, it brings to life your passions wildly, dreadfully. "He Poos Clouds" is a proof that Final Fantasy is skilled in music.

Los Lobos - The Town and the City
Rating: 8.9/10
Modern Music Review
Roots Rock
The eclectic music, spreading heartland rock, roots music, latin rock, adult music and americana. With "The Town and the City" again, they're willing to play their non-same, improved music, having still same inseparable musicians: David Hidalgo, Conrad Lozano, Louie Pérez, Cesar Rosas and Steve Berlin.
As America's most distinctive and original bands of the '80s, Los Lobos haven't given up to sound like a fresh alternative band by bringing rock back to its roots.
"The Town and the City", which is produced by themselves, brings one of the best Los Lobos
work despite its same tempo at times. It fulfilled me throughout. Because plain guitar lines ,which is supported by mellow blues vocals (The City, Don't ask Why), are quite hooky. Superb bluesy guitars appear in accurate sections every time, and these make "The Town and the City" more adorable and mature than previous Los Lobos records. Check out "No Puedo Mas" for bluesy satisfaction.
Meanwhile, the album is decorated with latin pearls (Chuco's Cumbia, Luna, No Puedo Mas) , bringin' to you warm breezes from latin rock, along a heavy influence of Ritchie Valens, was a pioneer of rock and roll and, as a Mexican-American.
As my notes explained, "The Town and the City" is some kind of plain, extra clever rock album , infected rock & roll, blues, and country. After listening to orgasmic closing song "The Town", you won't be able to reach to the telephone, essential!

Music Lists
Ridiculous, Cruel, Illogical
I came across a post at Stereogum about Pitchfork's Top Albums Of The Year, and laughed a lot to those ridiculous criticizing in the comments. The thing, we all have to know about music, it's very personal and you can't threaten someone like ' you have to love this band, you sucker! because it's my favorite, so you have to' it sounds like 'i'm the most selfish person in the world, if i say something, it is true, no other way!'. This is the most annoying thing in the music, can't you see there are lots of style of music, so you listen whatever you like. As for the musical lists, it's nonsense to say that the list isn't right, is it based on logic? If we all have to show a same album as a favorite, then sirs, we are the monkeys, there is no difference. For instance, i didn't like The Liars' "Drum's Not Dead", but Pitchfork liked, so it's normal, they can even like Britney S. or Justin Timberlake (already they love him), but i dislike them. That doesn't mean i'm right or they're wrong. There isn't bad or good in music, there is good representation or bad representationin music! You can't be the best, there is always someone better than you, so musical list isn't like scientific reality. They are done by people, remember this. I want to end up the post with a extra cool song.

A beautiful day...Christmas Vol 2.
Again i brought you some wonderful, miracle, terrific christmas songs along with the classic Christmas story summary, especially Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's song is some kind of fresh air, it was very nice band.
Christmas Carols
Mr Scrooge is a financier/money-changer who has spent his life concentrating on the accumulation of wealth and little else. He holds anything other than money in contempt including friendship, love and the Christmas season.
At one in the morning the first spirit appears and introduces himself as The Ghost of Christmas Past. This spirit leads Scrooge on a journey into some of the happiest and saddest moments of Scrooge's past, events that would largely shape the current Scrooge. These include the mistreatment of Scrooge by his uncaring father (who did not visit his son at boarding school, not even at Christmas), the loss of a great love sacrificed for his devotion to business, and the death of his sister, the only other person who ever showed love and compassion for him. Unable to stand these painful memories and his growing regret of them, Scrooge covers
the spirit with the large candle snuffer she carries and he is returned to his room with the clock being set back to 12 midnight.
Mp3: Tom Waits - Christmas Card From A Hooker In Minneapolis
At one in the morning (again) the second spirit arrives, the Ghost of Christmas Present, who shows him the meagre Christmas celebrations of the Cratchit family, the sweet nature of their crippled son, Tiny Tim, and a possible early death for the child; this prospect is the immediate
catalyst for his change of heart. They also show the faith of Scrooge's nephew in his uncle's potential for change, a concept that slowly warms Scrooge to the idea that he can reinvent himself. To further drive the point, the Ghost reveals two pitiful children who huddle under his robes which personify the major causes of suffering in the world, "Ignorance" and "Want", with a grim warning that the former is especially harmful. Again at the end of the visitation, Scrooge is returned to his room and the clock is set back to midnight.
Mp3: Gorky's Zygotic Mynci - Christmas Eve
The third spirit arrives just after midnight. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to
Come, a grim spectre much more frightening than the other spirits,
(which takes the form of a figure, completely robed in black, so that no part
is visible except one pointing hand), harrows Scrooge with visions of the Cratchit family bereft of Tiny Tim, of Scrooge's own lonely death and final torment, and the cold, avaricious reactions of the people around him after his passing. Without explicitly being said, Scrooge can avoid his own fate, and that of Tiny Tim— but only if he changes
In the end, Scrooge changes his life and reverts to the generous, kind-hearted soul he was in his youth before the death of his sister.
Mp3: Queen - Thank God It's Christmas
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Also check out a great film about christmas "Scrooged". 'Bill Murray is back among the ghosts. Only this time, it's three against one.' This film is both emotional and joyful, strongly recommended! It's one of my favorite!

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
Also check out a great film about christmas "Scrooged". 'Bill Murray is back among the ghosts. Only this time, it's three against one.' This film is both emotional and joyful, strongly recommended! It's one of my favorite!

Music is our love...
My musical love reached the top along with Modern Music. This is what i've wanted to do for weeks, i'll touch some of the good blogs now.
When i read other writings about music, many times i feel something missing about the topic, because mosty they talk by rote. Even if the music is great, the writing doesn't breathe. You want to read passionate writings, you want to hear something that flows down to your veins. So that's why we love music blogs which bring something hearty such as Mazzy Star, eh!
Motel De Moka touchs you with creative and extraordinary favorite 12 albums, Destroyer's "Rubies" is number 2 in the list, perceptive music list.
Painter in Your Pocket [mp3]
Sixeyes' favorite record of the year is The Veils' Nux Vomica, a wonderful discovery. Thanks to Alan, this album is really awesome, especially song named "One Night On Earth".
Largehearted Boy includes The Mountain Goats' "Get Lonely" in his list, makes his list standout, because it's hard to find the album any other list but it's truly great album.
Wild Sage [mp3]
Heather's list is wider than other, it's not only indie, a good list, because it consists of a fav. album of mine, "Dog Problems" by The Format.
Underrated's winner is Annuals, and it's a true observation.
Complete or Completing [mp3]
Torr is right about something, Well, Mojave 3 released another great record in the year, but i know it's again underrated. I've all albums of Mojave 3 and they're all some kind of great pleasure.
There are lots of list but if they don't bring something special, you'll find nothing advantage. You can also find some mp3 downloads at the pages above. Don't hesitate to write or comment your favorite list.

The Hidden Cameras - Awoo
Rating: 7.7/10
Modern Music Review
Indie Rock
This is the third studio album (Sep 19, 2006) for the Toronto collective headed by Joel Gibb. All 13 of the songs--make a big, joyful racket, full of glockenspiel, strings, pianos, guitars, vocals, and intricate arrangements that belie the simple heartfelt nature of leader Joel Gibb's songs.
I've been listening to it for two months, and it's right time to write about this good album, which needs time to comprehend its arrangement. We've emotional indie poppies, lovely frisky songs, orchestral melodies like Magnetic Fields' , acoustic-based songwriting such as
Belle & Sebastian, clever lyrics such as Michael Stipe's, it's been a assorted record, even it's so entertaining.
You can find yourself howling 'awooo' like a breezy wolf. R.E.M and Bob Mould influenced "Lollipop" and other eclectic songs prove that they follow many different styles, bands (The Smiths, Beach Boys). Beautiful "Fee Fie" is another good example of Hidden Cameras' good-natured symphonic indie pop style. There are other likeable songs such as "Follow These Eyes", "Heji", "Wandering", and also violins was used in the songs perfectly, it sounds as sweet as a mature fig.
"Awoo" gives good taste of music, with memorable vigorous stories.
MM picks: Lollipop, Heji

Bloody Sunday Holiday Playlist
Sunday, day of rest...will be this year's last day. The sunday will be a door leads to new hopes like what we used to hope every new year. Needless to say, sometimes you do great activities on sundays but not every sunday. I think listening music is one of the best thing to do on sundays.
Go for a walk: To drawn in middle of complex melodies. Everytime try to play different songs to enjoy the moment or to try to lighten your weights. It's great to passing near to a lovely melody while you're walking in the street or sharing your favorite album of the year to a friend. Discussing about music, 'Jesus & Mary Chain is always better than Echo & the Bunnymen'.
Jesus & Mary Chain - Sidewalking
Jump on to Cookies: This is the most innocent opinion for Sundays, dreaming yourself as a cookie monster at the same time listening to the favorite peaceful rock albums. I know, You prefer this cookie smell instead of anything. It makes you to feel that you're in safe, you're at home and with your dears.
Nouvelle Vague - Don't Go
Watching Old Movies: It's another nice liveliness to uncover some good movies from 70s, 80s, 90s... If you've a good archive, before watching them, you touch them to consider which
one is closer to you.
Adam Green - Watching Old Movies
To tidy your hairs: Thinking about everything, looking at the mirror, and your gloomy song is playing on the backround. You like it, though. If everything is going to be perfect then where is the mean of life? So you can't control love, it's crazy.
Marianne Faithfull - Crazy Love

The Gothic Archies - A Tragic Treasury
Rating: 8.6/10
Modern Music Review
Indie Pop, Lo-Fi
Songs From A Series Of Unfortunate Events
The first album for the latest "band" from Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt (he's pretty much solo here) is intended as a companion to Lemony Snicket's series of books.
One of the best way to have experience in life is hearing the stories which we can find in books, music, movies or they are told by someone else. In this novelty project, you can find contribution some songs to the widely popular series' audio books. Merritt's satiated dramatic voice controls the whole album as a big snow mass which is same to the earth. It starts to numb you by the opening accordion included track "Scream And Run Away" (From The Bad Beginning), truly a tempting opening.
"Dreary, Dreary" is quite funereal song that it makes you feel that you've returned a friend's burial recently, so depressing but funeral. Lyrics mostly touchs on weird and interesting themes. Think of yourself singing 'it gets dark around here, earlier because of all the crow what they want and where they come from noone knows', and then 'there are crows, crows everywhere when i think of you'. It's for sure, Merritt's prodigious compositions stands out amazingly, moreover we should learn more of him! How he puts such lyrics 'Smile! No One Cares How You Feel' in that the most depressive style? Following that "Freakshow" which is a carnival song with lot of fun, if you're capable to get. You won't surprise to his clever tunes if you know that his interest in music began to take on a physical form at the age of 14 with a cheap synthesizer and an old four-track recorder.
Despite all good melodies, some songs exhausts you in some stagnant ways (This Abyss, How Do You Slow This Thing Down?, A Million Mushrooms). But then "Things Are Not What They Appear" is the oddest melody which is a well-founded reason to seek for a coffee cup near to end of album, recalling Leonard Cohen's enormously mellow songs, Divine Comedy's unforgetable love song "A Woman of the World".
Drink!, to your love, smile!, to the world, remembering that they are the gothic archies.

A video for dudes...Ween
Ween was the ultimate cosmic goof of the alternative rock era, a prodigiously talented and deliriously odd duo whose work traveled far beyond the constraints of parody and novelty into the heart of surrealist ecstasy.
I'm not a big fan of The Muppets or anything like that, but today, i was listening to some Ween albums and i thought that it'd be droll to share the video with you. Don't know if you listen comedy rock such names The Dead Milkmen, Zappa or any great artist but comedy is as important as seriousness in the life. I'm sure that you've had unhappy times and you've had moments that you found yourself rolling on the floor laughing. Besides, if you love rock music, i'm sure of it that you've entertaining character, hiding inside of you. Ween is a great band to discover and it can change your ordinary moments, watch and see what you've got!
And also listen the best Ween song: Tried and True

Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanther
Rating: 9/10
Modern Music Review
Melancholic Indie Rock
A sunshine of sorrow, tear apart my whole body, is this fair? I just wanted to listen more music. Is it fair, making my whole body unconscious? I wanted indie, you gave me the most melancholic one! You made my day good. The sun goes down, and this gloomy guitar solos make beautiful my heart. Whenever i listen hooky music, i go to bed with a pretty smile on my face. No, this is too much, then the authentic sadness covers your head.
Song are mostly autumnal, "Roscoe" opens the "The Trials of Van Occupanther" (2006). But i didn't expect that kind of...Beautiful. The most melodic songs are placed at the start of record. That's why i said that they made me unconscious, consecutively they touch you. Dainty, dainty, not cookies, Midlake's songs. Followed that brainwashing "Head Home", "Van Occupanther", "Young Bride". If an indie band influences by Neil Young, this is real deal, they'll produce the music greatly. Band of Horses and Midlake are indisputable great examples in the year. Tim Smith voice recalls cool guys and has some similarities with Rufus Wainright, Tom Yorke. Harmony of bass guitar and piano, gentle horns are huge on "In This Camp". Clean song order makes it more capable album. This album reminds me of Van Morrison (specially Astral Weeks by Morrison), his unbelievable nature in music.
These gloomy bandits stole my heart. There is no last bus in music, always you've time to listen them, but before dying. Whatever i said, whatever you read, you should listen this.

The Twilight Sad - The Twilight Sad Ep
Rating: 7.5/10
Modern Music Review
Indie Rock
Based outside of Glasgow, The Twilight Sad formed in late 2003 and this is first sharp debut Ep (Fat Cat) of the band which consists of five long named independent cut.
Some songs sneak to your body as though poison which captures your blood slowly. Everything seems normally but it's not. Complex and noisy sounds are all the same. You love it deeply and watch its growing on you.
Here is what you wanted! Twilight Sad exactly combines with what i've referred to. As you notice from band's name: it's soft light from the sky between sunset, combining bustle of the drums, sobbing of the guitars, and sad of twilights. Their music gives the impression of sound of rain which always rain not orderly. But the rain makes you happy, though. Because of its cleaning effect, wet effect, i think all is perfect to feel (Last year's rain didn't fall quite so hard). I must admit that you may not love this, but it seems wrong not to give a second, maybe a third listen.
Eventually, it's a noise rain, touching to you, appearing like an enemy to your ears. I love antinomy, also "Fat Cat" embraces friendly. That's good!
MM pick: Last year's rain didn't fall quite so hard
Mp3: and she would darken the memory of youth

The Tragically Hip - World Container
Rating: 8.5/10
Modern Music Review
Formed in 1983 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada the Tragically Hip came together with childhood friends. The group took their name from a Michael Nesmith video entitled Elephant Parts and focused on making a name for themselves in the local scene during the mid-'80s.
My playlist has been entirely joyful this week. It's because Deerhoof's "Friend Opportunity", Clinic's "Visitations" and The Hip's "World Container" (2006). Especially "World Container" is going to be my favorite album of the month. I love to follow American Trad Rock style. Fastball, The Black Crowes, Phish and Dave Matthews are great names to rock your room.
As for The Tragically Hip's "World Container", you know i don't praise a band easily, but, this album is amazing. Moreover you must listen the whole record is featuring powerful electric guitars, visceral bass guitars, emotional vocals and lyrics... I examined all of them one by one.
At first listen it can seems nothing special to you but it'd be a big mistake not giving a second listen. Opening song and the second single "Yer Not The Ocean" is a bit usual, but the second one "The Lonely End Of The Rink" and the rest of the album include quite filling songs. Maybe it's not album of the year or not evebody's favorite but who cares? If there is anybody listening it, like me, then really who cares? They play their nice music and they find a listener at any occasion.
Notably "The Kids Don't Get It" helps them to shout their own style to rock music lovers. In addition, there is a love ballad which is named by "Pretend", oriented superb piano and ambitious singing style. That's funny, when i was listening to it, i was washing my hands, eating my lunch. And i felt myself inside a love story, because of the music fills my home.
It's quite rocking and you feel the energy of hard rock till the end of it. Almost i'd forget,
check out their "Up to Here" (1989) album which is a pick of mine. You'll love vocal performance of Gordon Downie , who is poetic improviser, is one of Canada's most treasurable artists.
MM pick: The Kids Don't Get It, Pretend, The Drop-Off

Best of Reissues, Remasters, Editions 2006
These are the most amazing reissues that i've heard in the year, you should consider to get these if you're a long time rock music listener. Also if you're interested to give a listen to some classic tunes, In my opinion these are necessary. And yes they sound clearer than the original records. A beautiful day...Christmas. Vol 1.
Near to Xmas, I chose and brought best sentimental christmas songs for you. We've three awesome melody here. I must admit that you can't find better christmas tunes than these , can you find? Maybe they're a bit old school, besides i'll be posting the new christmas songs, however, they bring love, nostalgia and violent passions that can fill the souls with goodness.
1. Big Star - Jesus Christ
A Christmas song that's worth hearing year-round. This is just terrific, from their masterpiece "Third - Sister Lovers".
It's really hard to find such a precious melody on earth, i'm sure you'll agree with me.
Especially there is a saxophone section to end of the song, love it! I don't know how many times i played the song but there is a turth that it never gets old. I can praise it during hours.
The song which was composed by Alex Chilton, starts by fading into an utterly random piano-and-drums jam by Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens.
Angels from the realms of glory
Stars shone bright above
Royal david's city
Was bathed in the light of love
Jesus christ was born today
Jesus christ was born
2. John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War Is Over)
This was fulled with Lennon's amazing melodies, wishing all the goodness to people, protesting the wars which has always been a huge wound to humanity, yes it's from one of the most importand music man.
3. Elvis Presley - Silver Bells
if there is an absolute truth, my words become weak front of Elvis' art. We should only listen and lie to a soft armchair.
Words & music by Ray Evans - Jay Livingston:
'Silver bells, silver bells It's Christmas time in the city Ring-a-ling, hear them ring Soon it will be Christmas day City sidewalks, busy sidewalks Dressed in holiday style In the air there's a feeling of Christmas Children laughing, people passing Meeting smile after smile And on every street corner you'll hear Strings of streetlights, even stoplights Blink a bright red and green As the shoppers rush home with their treasures Hear the snow crunch, see the kids bunch This is Santa's big scene And above all this bustle you'll hear '

Mountain Goats - Get Lonely - 2006
Rating: 9.1/10
Modern Music Reviews
Indie Rock, Lo-Fi
The Mountain Goats are one of the more unusual bands to find shelter under the ever-expanding umbrella term of indie rock.
I want some snow to cover my hopeless eyes. Hey, don't you know that i already know about that they work hard to release this albums but i'm no different. I like to live the music, i try to write about it. Sometimes this isn't well-enough. To know how it feels like being someone else or to judge somebody else, you have to walk around with his/her shoes. Writing about music is the nicest thing, if you want to write.
Thanks to The Mountain Goats who encouraged me to write more about music with their songs. What i found is...the innocent voice, colorful pianos, guitar cracks, harmless songs...
Today i was walking on the street alone, suddenly i stopped. I don't know why i stopped. Then i went on walking. I realised the emptiness, that was the silence. I was looking for some rhythm, sound, noise... anything that was able to rescue me from that situation. At that moment, i realised how much i love my home, the cds, my old teapot and of couse, my cracked cup.
I came to home at least. After all these, if The Mountain Goats' "Get Lonely" plays, oh! that's for sure i'll stop to complaint about anything.
Sometimes you want to be alone, that doesn't only mean that you're happy or not. It's because of brain's getting tired. The life is hard and it's cruel more than you can recognize. Everytime It plays different game and it surprises us in diferent ways. "Get Lonely" is what we looking for, it understands human's nature. I apreciated that their name, which they're Taking from the Screamin' Jay Hawkins song "Big Yellow Coat, related the songs' nature. The Goats which are harmless and awesome creatures, The mountains which are high and place of peace.
You're looking for some hidden place where you can rest, you want to hear the beauty slowly, you want more natural music, you want to imagine untouched prettiness, Then "Get Lonely" is hiding there!
MM picks: Maybe Sprout Wings, Moon Over Goldsboro, Song For Lonely Giants, Cobra Tattoo

Drug-like Tracks of 2006
You have to love music really very much, if you're familiar with the songs. Love these as your child, let them grown on you. But don't forget, there's no way back if you love them once. Don't leave 2006 without these.
1. Tom Waits - Road to Peace (Orphans)
If we live in this world, we should notice what's going on, we don't want the war!
2. Beirut - Postcards From Italy (Gulag Orkestar)

3. Grizzly Bear - Knife (Yellow House)
I must admit that they've three amazing song on "Yellow house": Lullabye, Plans and Knife. The perfect treble.
4. Beach House - Tokyo Witch (Beach House)
I'm very interested in gloomy songs. On their self-debut there are too many city of loneliness, city lights, places which are cold and lonely.
5. Asobi Seksu - Strings (Citrus)
I imagine myself running one corner to another, bizarre and paranormal activities. I know that doesn't make sense...
6. Tv On the Radio - Province (Return To Cookie Mountain)
It is not because of Bowie's voice appears, this song used to kick my brother's ass, he can't stand to hear this but i like it.
7. Drones - Jezebel (Gala Mill)
When i heard first the song...And now still it's the same feelings. Ayyy!
8. Band Of Horses - The Funeral (Everything All The Time)
'I'm ready for a funeral'. Certainly they have ability, easily they appear every favorite list of 2006.
9. Los Lobos - The Valley (The Town and the City)
From their major protest release "The Town and the City", get pleasure from truths.

Tom Waits - Orphans - 2006
Rating: 9.5/10
Modern Music Review
I like my town
With a little drop of poison
Nobody knows
They're linin' up to go insane
Tom Waits ,who is one the most important American songwriter, released this 3-disc set includes 30 brand-new recordings--in addition to the usual mix of covers, soundtrack selections, and other previously uncompiled material.
I'm writing and erasing, writing and erasing...
Tom Waits always help me to change my home's atmosphere, i put "Rain Dogs" (my favorite of 1985) to music centre and i keep my little moments alive. I tried to play his songs along with other artists, he sounds as the biggest, so mature. That's why i dissociate his music from the others. You've always something to say about him.
Did the Devil
Make the World
While God was sleeping
You'll never get a wish from a bone
Another long goodbye
And a hundred sailors
That deep blue sky Is my home
Bawlers (second disc): "Widow's Grove" with a Little Drop Of Poison. In life, there are always cruelties and "Shiny Things" which you have to live, things that you can not change. "World Keeps Turning", you have still the chance, a chance which can keep you from being a "Little Man". Never Let Go to the happiness, never say "It's Over". Just say "If I Have To Go" and keep the moment, give a second chance.
As you see from my expressions, they brings wonderful harmony together, these are meaningful songs as well as darkened. This disc remind of an attic where all memories stored, where we don't forget the past, where we can't go on with the past. If you listen "Bawlers" alone, you'll relive the past. It's full of memories , happy and misery moments. I wonder how is your mood after listening "Young At Heart" which is the closing song, totally broken?
And she left in the fall
That's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
Well a rat
Always knows
When he's in with weasels
Here you lose a little everyday
Bastards (third disc) : We rocked, we cried and now it's time to joy. He's one the
most impressive romantic, passionate songwriter, at the same time he's
got distinctive sense of humor which "Bastards" proves indeed.
Well I remember
When a million was a million
They all have ways
To make you pay
And she left in the fall
That's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
The followers, if "Orphans" doesn't exist in your archive, then that's a good reason to cry while you're listening "Rain Dogs", "Frank Wild Years"
even "Alice". Sir Waits still has wonderful (drunken) voice ,and again his noises
blow us away. He's for sure important figure and one of the most influential artist.
Orphans has a bunch of feelings to get you in, don't miss this out!
MM picks: Road To Peace, Sea Of Love, Widow's Grove, Little Man, What Keeps Mankind Alive

I'm all alone
I smoke my friends down to the filter
But I feel much cleaner
After it rains
And she left in the fall
That's her picture on the wall
She always had that little drop of poison
Brawlers (first disc) : Opening with great drunk, joyful Tom Waits single "Lie To Me", this cd keeps unique cranky style of rock'n roll, taking its soul from American roots music.
Lovely beats, weird various instruments, claps and as the most important Tom Waits'
cracked voice. It sounds like the voice was smitten by thousand barrel drink. "Brawlers" remove the daily routine in your life while you're listening to it. "Road To Peace" can be noted as one of the best work of Tom Waits on the cd. It's a long time, political and eye-catching song. "Sea Of Love" is my another pick, proves his success, points his as the most melancholic song developer. Also that cover song sounds better than the original soundtrack. Heartbroken voice by trembling electric guitars, i know it sounds perfect!

Oasis - Stop The Clocks
Rating: 3/10
Modern Music Review
Britpop, Pop/Rock
First disc includes the most common Oasis works, i don't know who should buy this record! Fans? Is there any fan who doesn't know about "Layla", "The Importance of Being Idle" and "Wonderwall" which song you hear everywhere. "Rock n Roll Star" and "Cigarettes and Alcohol" which are from "Definitely Maybe". Does Oasis fall down? I don't think so. Their every album sells well but in my opinion they haven't relese any good album since 2000's."Don't Believe the Truth" had dropped by the band after two week I bored and didn't listen anymore, but also they said 'This is the greatest Oasis album in ten years'. I knew it, i know it and i'll know it they always say things like that. The result is other people believe this.
Believe me, today it's hard to pick what is good, what is bad! Because of the morons. Oh, i see they have to earn money with that. What i see is they give high marks to albums and they don't
explain why. They only write some previous info about the artist and give full rating. I don't believe they listen the whole albums, i don't believe they love the bands which they give high rates. It's easy to see the lie. Because don't think i'm a jerk, i see the big Oasis banner on the top. As for the Oasis, still they're counting the same steps. "Layla" wasn't anything more precious than Britney Spears'. As for the "Wonderwall", it's enough, of course i know it's a great song but there are other great bands too. So please don't spend your money to same things, and buy another great bands' album which need your support. Please don't be sorry for the disbanded bands, because you don't support them.
I heard something like 'I don't read reviews because i don't interest what other people
think'. Please don't deny you know that these reviews are very effective. In reviews, you can't find every detail from the album, because of music is personal to all of us. You should go and listen to have something to say.
Thank you Hype Media! You've always been flatter! Oasis isn't an unsuccessful band, but this collection makes no sense, same choruses. Listen Oasis, The Clocks won't stop! You should work hard for the clocks. The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Kinks couldn't stop the clocks, how can you stop the clocks with a best of.

You should work hard for the clocks. The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Kinks couldn't stop the clocks, how can you stop the clocks with a best of.

The Twilight Singers - A Stitch In Time
Rating: 8.2/10
EP Review
Alternative Rock
The Twilight Singers are a side project for Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli.
"A Stitch In Time", which consists of five new song, opens with a cover song of Massive Attack.
In the song, smoky, whiskey-like voice Mark Lenegan appears. Keep this as a secret, actually i've never been disappointed by any Greg Dulli's work whether Twilight Singers or Afghan Whigs. Their albums must exist in your archive. "Sublime" which is the second song brings the complex outstanding work of Twilight Singers, at the top of R&b rhytims, guitars solos, back soul vocals. It's totally awesome and
it's for people who loves rock music really very much. As you see from the name of "Flashback",
it's a song which recalls previous Afghan Whigs songs. Yeah it's rocking like Afghan Whigs'
heyday.
It's been almost perfect EP. "They Ride" is another greater power, any Afghan Whigs or Twilight Singers fan should listen it. Creative grunge-like guitar solos on the center of the song and Greg Dulli's captivating voice on backround to draw you in. On the other hand its arrangements aren't very different from his previous works. It's what it has to be. The songs are usually liquid. The closing song is little exhausting, though.
Greg Dulli, name of a powerful rock artist despite his buried works. Along with being stunning, it can be also refreshing to you mood. This Ep definitely is more precious than some of the other albums in the year.
MM picks: They Ride
Listen: Live With Me
A must have: The Afghan Whigs - 1965

Memphis - Little Place In The Wilderness
Rating: 6.8/10
Modern Music Review
Indie Rock
Memphis' sophomore LP, "A little Place In The Widerness", by Stars singer Torquil Campbell and Chris Dumont features Metric's James Shaw, Josh Trager.
My dreams... I saw that words when i unwraped the Cd. I liked the cover and diary-like lyric papers which beg of you to draw you at a truelife story. It's been a illustrative info about the concept. I've always been a dream pop fan, i've always wanted to be in a place where music dreams softy. Softly, i said because nighmares are another part of dreams. Soft dreams remind of beautiful dreams.
Soft as snow dreams which you have to keep to yourself. Because, while we only care about ourselves, who cares about your dreams? So it's risky try to write about only your dreams on your songs. As the worst scenario, listeners will fall apart. On "A little Place In The Widerness", most of the songs include the same word, "Dream". According to me it's a blemish.
However, there are quite vivid songs on the cd ; romantic "In the Cinema", brilliant "Incredibly Drunk on Whiskey" and "A Ghost Story". We all make love in the cinema, sometimes we want to be as drunk as a fool, everyone thinks about ghosts at times. These are the moving themes of Torquil Campbell on songwriting. At the same time, it's hard to say these for some melodies on the album because of their lack of harmony. Actually it's even hard to remember them despite several spin. Horns, saxophones, airy electric guitars are jazzy, especially violins are harmonious with childhood memories included extraordinary "A Ghost Story".
It's broken and sensitive record, stucked in the middle of cloudy dreams that belong to Torquil Campbell, easily charming everything around of it. Turn off the lights, watch the beautiful world out there.
Like John Lennon said before: ' Dream, dream away -- Magic in the air, was magic in the air? I believe, yes I believe -- More I cannot say, what more can I say? '
MM picks: Incredibly Drunk on Whiskey, A Ghost Story
