Piccadilly Palare mp3 by Morrissey from new Bona Drag (Remastered Reissue)

One of the most complicated British musicians Morrissey's remastered reissue of 'Bona Drag' starts with a favourite song of mine which is 'Piccadilly Palare'. It is funny that I hear a woman in the underground, saying to her daughter 'Piccadilly', and the little girl finds the area name very funny, keep laughing to her mother. This song is not as funny as this little story but bitter.

Morrissey chose to write about a subject unusual in pop music, namely male prostitution around the Piccadilly area of London. The title of the song refers to cant slang language polari, first used by male prostitutes in the 19th century and was then taken up by homosexuals in the 1960s to disguise sexual predilections which were illegal in the UK until 1967.

Antony and the Johnsons - Swanlights

The woman walks as fast as she can, and is carrying her small suitcase. She is waiting for the right train, she suddenly turns back and notices something but she doesn’t bother looking too much. Her body language tells that she is not interested in such a complicated, artistic art cover of the new Antony and the Johnsons album, ‘Swanlights’.

The transformation of a moth to a butterfly, like the transformation of a man to a woman in the first two records, ’Antony and the Johnsons’ (1998) and ‘I Am a Bird Now’ (2005), the experimental very independent music band gives us a very catchy album. At their highest point this reaches the epic emotional songs such as “Thank You for Your Love”, “The Great White Ocean” and the killer queen of the album “Fletta”, where singer Antony Hegarty meets with a creepy form of angel voice, Bjork.

Repeating ‘ Thank You’ for a hundred times on the first single and likewise his same obsession in repeating ‘Everything is New’ in the opener, Antony and The Johnsons blends all their skills up to this time, to produce their music flawlessly, releasing the best album of the year.

I lean against to the Swanlight art cover in the tube station, and went onto my train. There were this lyrics playing in my ears ‘When my mind was broken into a thousand pieces…’

Rating: 9/10

CLAPS

CLAPS, a minimal synth pop band from Minneapolis, MN. They just released their second EP, No Party on Guilt Ridden pop. I checked their song, and they sound cool! But, there is a problem. Why so sad?

I decided to put the new artists to a seperate category which I would called "The first impression". The reason of doing that I recieve a lot of emails from very talented new musicians and bands. I have to ask myself that , why I not put all of them under this category?

M4A: CLAPS - Lost

Dhana - Not Enough

The lead singer of Taxi Doll, Dhana ventures into uncharted creative territory with the release of “The Confessions of Lily Rogue,” a five song EP that explores her darker, more fragile and emotional sides. She adds, “It is in the light and dark pieces in which we are reflected. Often our pain and frailty is the source of our greatest strength; I wanted to write about that duality through Lily Rogue.”

I don't know if you like chicks like Katy Perry, Alisson Goldfrapp and maybe Lily Allen. Dhana may go in the middle of same tune with those names, and have got the hypnotising female voice.

MP3: Dhana - Not Enough

Antony and the Johnsons - Thank You for Your Love (Live on Later with Jools Holland)

I like to write down one of the good comments here about the song "Who the fuck is this talentless whineing poof? Why doesn't someone put the fat cunt out of his and my misery?". Enjoy the brilliant version:

Kluas Nomi - Simple Man

Something like today's genius Antony Hegarty, Klaus Nomi was a genius of his era with his incredible voice and unusual appearance. I believe that some of the wise musicians just steal from these people to bring something very original today. Patrick Wolf's "Hard Times" (from Bachelor album) can be a good example of Klaus Nomi's power based on music keep going on the earth. It is a shame he died because of AIDS. However Nomi's glorious voice still echos on this site.

David Sylvian's new compilation Sleepwalkers features his greatest collaborations from the ‘00s, including World Citizen with Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Nine Horses project, and the new song Five Lines, a collaboration with Dai Fujikura. It's been very good compilation which includes side-project hits such as "Money For All", "Ballad of a Deadman" and for sure "World Citizen". A Sylvian fan should not miss this record out!

Antony and The Johnsons - "Thank You For Your Love" Video

"Thank You For Your Love" is the first single from Antony and the Johnsons' forthcoming full-length Swanlights.

The video is so impressive, with black-and-white footage of a man mugging for the camera, leads to a teenager dreams, happy man dressen in woman clothes,  in the end he turns to a woman. I never came across such a wonderful match of a song with its video before, amazing!

Hit Song: Shontelle - "Impossible "

After a good football match, you like to come home to relax, maybe put the easygoing music on. Shontelle is one of those peaceful voices that you can listen all the time if you want some emotion in your place. Think of a little bit emotional Rihanna, then you are definitely should check the song "Impossible".- themodernmusic.com

Manic Street Preachers - (It's Not War) Just The End Of Love

I did not have time to write about the new song of Manics. It is not war, just the end of love. I love their songs that they always give people good message. Since The Holy Bible as the best album ever they made, it is very happy to see they still going on the way they believe.

Alexandra Burke - "Start Without You"

Alexandra Burke as the winner of the fifth season of The X-Factor, releases her happy-dance hit which peaks to number 1 at official Uk charts. The song produced by Red One and features guest vocals from Jamaican rapper Laza Morgan. In my opinion, it feautures a lot gay guys in the video below, and more can bee seen at official Alexandra Burke website. It's been an entertaining pop songs combines a lot of different dance-pop elements.

Bedroom Playlist Songs for Adults

The song comes from Momus’ Tender Pervert (1998) record that is covered with intelligent lyrics, political views in a funny way of telling.

From The Valley To The Stars is very nice poppy, outstanding cut from successful Swedish artist. “Somebody’s baby” reminds me relationships which you are taken for granted.

At the first drum roll we undress
At the second drum roll we get into bed
To ensure order and silence
Silence always makes me scream

Anita Lane’s quite mature lyrics somehow help you to learn about regretful sex experience you had with someone who fucked and throw you after a while. Love has been a cliché in lyrics, but however, Lane’s lyrics are worth to listen on her Sex O' Clock (2001) record.

You had big tits and every boy in school wanted to fuck you
You told me stories about what these boys could do
"they rip off your clothes, all they wanna do is screw"
Cans of hairspray piled up like skyscrapers

We had a sweet interview with her recently, can be found here.

I like and support young bands, but I still in much love with old records like anything from Tim Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Cocteau Twins… Leonard’s demanding lyrics with Famous Blue Raincoat may hit anybody at first stream. I can tell that this is the best song written about cheating.

An Interview with Jenny Wilson

Jenny Wilson is a Swedish singer-songwriter whose latest record Hardships! is on my playlist recently. From folk, disco, and R&B, she's released two albums, 2005's Love and Youth and 2009's Hardships! She now works on her new record which is a secret for now.

Interview by Modern Music: 2 September 2010 themodernmusic.com

First of all, thanks for your amazing record “Hardships!” and combining large variety elements in your music R&B to rock, soul to electronic. Honestly I have listened to your album over and over again, however it was the first time I saw your colourful video of “Fading Like A Rainbow” that was the begining for me loving your music. How have you made your look so influential, your costumes always match very well with your idiosyncratic music?

Every part makes sense, and helps to reach the very core of my music! I have always been very involved in everything that comes with the music - the costumes, the pictures, the videos, the covers, the light we use on stage etc etc.

I work with a Swedish artist, Pia Sandström, and she's been designing almost all of the costumes I've used for the passed five years. We have a wonderful and creative process in her studio, where we drink a lot of black coffee and talk about small things and big things meanwhile I stand with weird cretions draped on my body!

I know you spent your whole time with the family after “Love and Youth”. Some musicians release too many records, that you almost can’t always follow them. Do you think musicians should have a break sometimes to create something sharper or fresher?

For me it's important to live that other life, the life that is far from the one one you live in the studio or in a tour bus! I find my most important inspirations in that "other" life!

Like in your lyrics “The Wooden Chair”, “Love and Youth, “Love Ain’t Just A Four Letter Word”, you actually tell many things that most people ignore, but which are very true. What do you think about songs that can lead people to face facts that they cannot normally face in their life?

New Lloyd Cole mp3: "Double Happiness" from upcoming record

In a few days the new Lloyd Cole album "Broken Record" will be released. To celebrate this Tapete Records gives the opportunity to download one song for free - it's called "Double Happiness". After four years break since Anti Depressant, It sounds quite moody and catchy the new song, highly recommended!

mp3: Lloyd Cole - "Double Happiness"

Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

Katy Perry first appeared as a super star on charts with her song "I Kissed A Girl". Even though the song seems to have great impression on pop music charts, her first record was not that good. After the commercial success, she comes with a second record "Teenage Dream" also same titled new single which peaks to number 2 at official UK charts. By the way, she looks very good at naked pictures which is can be seen on her cover art. As for the new single, I really don't have any idea.

The new video of Teenage Dream can be seen on official Katy Perry site.

Remy Zero reunite and comes with new song "Til The End"

I first discovered Remy Zero by a song titled as "Gramarye" on their Villa Elaine album.

Remy Zero will be reunite for four select dates in October to honor the memory of the band’s drummer Gregory Slay, who passed away on New Year’s Day of complications from Cystic Fibrosis. The new song "'Til The End" is a new shimmering tune and the singer sounds quite ambitious here, with a promising new modern rock song, they make a good return.

Oct 08 - Seattle, WA @ Crocodile Cafe
Oct 11 - San Francisco, CA @ Cafe Du Nord

In The Year 2525

I wanted to live in the year 2525, it would help me to break free! Or, it's just my imagination on 10 o'clock while I was trying to kill bugs in my kitchen! I always enjoyed for the 1980s weird, disco-like music. The artwork above is created by me. I know that I have to see my doctor. Enjoy!

Interpol – “Barricade” video

'In the latest video from New York City's Interpol, singer Paul Banks's head is projected onto various torsos. The rest of the band play their instruments in a field. It's not as creepy as their last video. It was directed by Moh Azima. Also: (spoiler alert) balloons!' Pitchfork

"Thank You For Your Love" by Antony and the Johnsons

Antony and the Johnsons released another nice song from Thank You for Your Love EP. It made me to remember any good songs of them such as "Kiss My Name", "Fistful of Love", even "Hope There's Someone" while I am listening to the song. A woman-like voice, Antony Hegarty sings in an emotional way thousand times 'Thank you for you love'. It must be a bitter love story which is very influential for the songwriter. Is it a matter of being of thankful or hateful we do not know for sure. But he wrote this song in very sensible moments. Otherwise, it would not repeat these words for too many times. 7/10

The video can be seen here.

A Good Speaker Will Make You Love Music

When I was very young and going to primary school I started to discover various kinds of music. In the old days I use to record songs onto tape and then make my friend listen to them on my tape recorder. I didn’t have any good sound system and so I adapted by buying a speaker from a car part seller and connecting it to my old radio. It those days it wasn’t great, but it worked, and I would dance in the garden with my friends listening to the Spice Girls.

As I grew older I realised that in any sound system, quality depends on the speakers. The best recording encoded on the most advanced storage device like tapes, CD’s and DVD’s and played by a deck and amplifier will sound awful if connected to a poor speaker. It is essential to choose a good speaker that will produce high quality sound and which has high frequency levels.

Technology has changed and these days there are various speakers to choose from such as a floor standing speaker, a subwoofer, or a satellite system speaker. When it comes to the sound a good speaker should produce clear, natural and lively sound with no distortion, and almost give the impression that you are listening to a live performance.

When I review an album it is only fair that I consider the beats, layers, every single melody, and I can only do this by having a good quality speaker. My favourite music is rock and alternative music which often needs to be listened to very loud or you may not be able to enjoy it. I can listen to some of my favourites, Brian Eno, David Sylvian, El Perro Del Mar, Beach House and close my eyes, let the music travel to my ears, and visualise that I am there when the artist first produced the album.

I really can’t imagine ever going back to listening to music on my old tape recorder!

If you are looking to purchase speakers its worth looking on vouchercodes.co.uk who currently have some great offers for money off at Comet.- Modern Music

The National song: "Conversation 16"

The National are a Brooklyn-based indie rock band and with their new record "High Violet" there are quite more famous then they used to be. I listen to the song almost everytime when I put some music on. "Conversation 16" is very favorable new song of them. I did some research about the new record:

High Violet sold 51,000 copies in its first week of sales, charting at #3 on the Billboard 200. This marks The National's highest charting effort yet (beating Boxer, which debuted at #68).

It's not hard to say that they are quite well-known band from now on. I heard their song played while I was buying some records at HMV store. Well I afraid to share the song due to copyright. However I will share because I don't care if they are more popular now. (Some bands do not want their songs shared after they become famous.)

Roll Deep - "Green Light" Number 1 Uk Hit

When it is summertime, we know number hits are uselly club-like, dance songs with strong beats and memorable lyrics. It's not Black Eyed Peas song, but it completely reminds the music of them. One powerful female vocal and rap breaks throughout the song. In the end, it is quite favorable and deserves number 1 place in the official uk charts. review by The MM

The Wanted All Time Now

I like to spread the word on new boy band. All time low is an upbeat pop song that puts a smile on your face when you hear on the radio. The song debuted at number one on the UK Singles Chart on 1 August 2010.

Buy the song on iTunes
You can also Download it.

Kula Shaker best reviewed new album "Pilgrim's Progress"

Some of you may remember their good debut record K, including very nice britpop hits like "Tattva", "Govinda" and many more.

Fresh and easygoing new record "Pilgrim's Progress" has been well received by fans and critics alike, and I think that it really deserves some good criticism. Opening song "Peter Pan R.I.P", which is also the first single, provides the best vocals and orchestral music. Lush and bright melodies stays the same throughout the whole record.

"Pilgrim's Progress" is a good experience for britpop fans. 7/10

You can listen the songs "Only Love", "Figure It Out", "Peter Pan R.I.P" on Kula Shaker myspace.

Walkmen's new album "Lisbon" and a free download

I was listening to their records "Everyone Who Pretended to Like Me Is Gone" and "A Hundred Miles Off " and good news they releases another record.

Lisbon will be coming out in the U.K. on October 11th on Bella Union Records. It will be out in the U.S. on September 14th on Fat Possum Records. You can download for free a song of their which sounds like a hymn. Go the link and download the "Stranded" clicking just over there on the right.

Interpol - Lights

"Lights" was released to download for free on their website, originally in May 2010 with an accompanying video released in June 2010. This album will be the band's last effort with original bassist Carlos Dengler as he left shortly after the album's completion. The lead single "Barricade" is scheduled to be released on August 3, 2010. I believe that self-titled forth studio album sounds quite good. A fan should check it out!

Love is not Pop

Love is in the air. In a rainy day, you walk down in London streets music playing in your headphone, dreaming your ambitions, loves and purposes in your life... The amazing part of life is maybe being happy with what you have got. Noone knows you more than you do. Everything means everything, and you choose your own path. You slept with wrong guys or girls, but you also had beautiful people in your life. Equilibrium!

Les Savy Fav - Root For Ruin

"Root For Ruin" will be released on Wichita Recordings on Sept. 13. The band's guitarist, Syd Butler, told about LP that "captures all the best parts of Les Savy Fav". Brooklyn-based five-piece Les Savy Fav's opening punky art rock song is quite favorable and the rest of album flows.

Due to copyrights, sharing of any of these tracks is not possible here . However, "Root For Ruin" would be nice to listen if you were interested in any Les Savy Fav songs before.

The tracklisting for 'Root For Ruin's is:
'Appetites'
'Dirty Knails'
'Sleepless in Silverlake'
'Let's Get Out of Here'

Loving You Is Easy by Sarah Mclachlan

"Loving You Is Easy" is the new mellow song from Canadian musician, singer and songwriter Sarah Mclachlan's the seventh studio album "Laws Of Illusion" which was released by Arista Records on June 15.

The song is previously released on on April 23 , 2010. But, instead of her more recent single "Forgiveness" (listen on myspace), I prefer to put here "Loving You Is Easy" as a very nice song of her.

Sarah McLachlan's official video for "Loving You Is Easy:

Devo: "What We Do" and Three New Songs

Something for Everybody is the ninth studio album by American New Wave band Devo. They also debuted new costumes and three new songs: "Don't Shoot (I'm a Man)," "What We Do" and "Fresh." All of these songs included a video backdrop which the band performed in front of.

You can listen the songs "What We Do" and "Fresh" on their Devo myspace. "What We Do" has been totally crazy song and also the artwork is quite weird!

Liz Phair - Bollywood

Liz Phair returned with a big disappointment. Moreover, the new LP is a shocking one if you know of her masterpiece record "Exile in Guyville". "Bollywood" is a new single from the sixth studio album "Funstyle". The new track is maybe one of the worst new song from a well-known singer-songwriter in 2010. Website

Flashback
Billy Corgan - To Love Somebody
The song comes from Corgan's solo record which was released in 2005 "The Future Embrace". I love this song as a very nice slow alternative rock song.

Of Montreal Singles: "Coquet Coquette" and "Hydra Fancies"

American indie-pop group Of Montreal once again released another considerably queer record, and titled as "False Priest". I had a probability to listen both new singles "Coquet Coquette" and "Hydra Fancies" from the record. If it needed a word to describe, the best one would be 'weird' for the song "Hydra Fancies". Moreover, such a song you want to listen over and over again. The reason is I always curious about different music, eclectic melodies. Nevertheless, it makes you feel tired while you want to listen the whole record. In the end, this is not average indie-rock music!

Listen the first single Coquet Coquette on myspace.

Right now you can download Yip Deceiver’s “Coquet Coquette” remix on RCRD LBL’s “RCRD Of The Day”, go here.

Ssh! They are Tortoise! People may think that I'm Strange. However you are not wrong after reading and following the blog. I don't know why I bother to listen these experimenting weirdos. "Ice Ice Gravy" is a main reason not to ignore "Why Waste Time?" EP, that's why I spent the time to spread the word.

The Coral - Butterfly House

I was in a shopping centre at the city, where Shakespeare was born, beautiful Stratford. It was playing The Coral's that fresh melody "In the Morning". How beautiful feeling it was after all those years and then it makes you think about good songs never die. Love, love and more love for the music. Feel it in your bones or never pay attention. Now they released a new record which I have noticed recently. The new song "Butterfly House" is pretty good melody that you may like listening these cool summer days under a tree at any Park.

I haven't got any chance to listen the whole record yet. However I believe that they make a good return with "Butterfly House".

The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Say No To Love (7")(2010)

I love dreamy pop songs. When you way back to your home by the tube, there is nothing better than listening one of your favorite songs. I do put my playlist of my portable player the new songs, and the song I want to listen the most becomes my favorite to write on this music blog. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are an indie pop band from New York City, their self-titled record was very nice. This is the recent release of them, and I like it!

Kele - Tenderoni

"Tenderoni" is the first single by Kele Okereke from his debut album, The Boxer. It was released as a download from iTunes on 13 June 2010 in the UK and 11 June in Australia, and was released in a CD format on 14 June 2010.

Bloc Party lead singer tried something different this time. It sounds like copied from any other electronic song, and nothing to mention about the performance here. One of the crap releases of the year.

HIM - Scared to Death

It's the most recent song from popular Finnish pop rock band HIM. The single was released on the 15 March 2010 through iTunes and as a CD single in Finland and Germany. Not a very new song to write, but I couldn't find anything to write. So I am double desprate like this recent HIM album. They changed to a britpop band, but not a proper britpop band for sure. It's more like a fake rock music bumping in the ear.

Stars: "Fixed" from new album The Five Ghosts

The Five Ghosts is the fifth studio album by Stars, which will be released worldwide on June 22, 2010, via Vagrant. I can say the new single "Fixed" is very sugary indie rock song.

The Divine Comedy - Bang Goes The Knighthood

"Bang Goes the Knighthood" is the tenth studio album by The Divine Comedy. They release records since 1993, starting their career with a strong debut "Liberation", and somehow they are very underrated band. It seems the songs in this new album of The Divine Comedy is quite difficult to grow in your head if you used to listen crap pop music all the time! It's The Divine Comedy, and you should not expect something ineffective. First single "At The Indie Disco" is quite nice, however I still need to dig the album more as it sounds better with every single listen. Fantastic music!
