Final Fantasy - Spectrum, 14th Century

7.5/10
New Owen Pallett thing is up right now. I loved the Ep opener song Oh, Spectrum after listening to Japan (Nightporter), Tim Buckley (Starsailor) this morning. It's quite noticeable that Owen works with Beirut on this historical Spectrum Ep, and love strange odd and arty artists. Final Fantasy is cool for you!

Final Fantasy - The Butcher

Brian Wilson - That Lucky Old Sun (2008)

Producer, writer, performer and legendary Brian Wilson (Beach Boys leader) releases a brand new album. Despite its hundred percent new songs, it sounds like a nostalgic record from 60s. Oxygen To The Brain, Good Kind Of Love, Forever My Surfer Girl give the retro impression. Brian Wilson exactly knows what kind of songs works in his circle. Although this record makes feel you old, you'd rather not to ask a brand new style since he's a strong musician. Traditional, clear and sentimental.

New Indie Songs

New The Broken West has leaked, and i downloaded the whole Now Or Heaven. First impression is that this is simpler than debut I Can't Go On, I'll Go On. Embassy Row and House Of Lies are tough songs despite first singles everyday tunes.
The Broken West - Auctioneer

Emilie Simon covers Bowie's pathetic grand control (Space Oddity). This feels like more of Martha Wainwright's childhood singing. Emilie will be playing shows in LA and NY to premier new material from her forthcoming record, arriving in 2009. Oh my god, she has the appearance of an actress from fantasy film

Emilie Simon - Space Oddity

Metronomy's sytnh pop shot Nights Out includes some great moments such as Back On The Motorway.

Metronomy - Back On The Motorway
did you like it? i thought so.

The Sea and Cake seems to be finished new record Car Alarm. Ssssh it's leaked! Fuller Moon is a great song from the album, fresh and perfect indie rock music. You know that i'm a big fan of Tortoise guys. Unfortunately they're disbanded. The Sea and Cake give impression of Tortoise with vocals. Cool music.
I won't share any songs, though.

Of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping 2008

Rating: 6/10 (edit* increased from 5 to 6 after taking a shower:)
Ninth Of Montreal record prodoced by Kevin Barnes, set to be released on October 7, 2008 on Polyvinyl. Kevin Barnes stated that the album will be composed of hundreds of short segments ranging from thirty to fifty seconds in length. But believe me, these segments are too much for a complete album spin. You also don't have idea what you are listening to. Track previews? Disappointed? No sir, there is no question that it's my favorite band. Liked Skeletal Lamping? I actually don't know if this is what i like. Of Montreal seems to like Bee Gees or they got into the indie dance sound a lot. I miss records like debut Cherry Peel, astounding The Gay Parade and Satanic Panic in the Attic.

Of Montreal had changed a lot since previous Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?. However songs like Cato as A Pun, Suffer for Fashion or She's a Rejecter made that record top-notch. Skeletal Lamping is nothing doing horrible, they get positive reviews. Positive reviews won't be important if you lose your musical soul. Puzzling, contradicting, disturbing, humorous...fantasies, do nothing about it.

Highlights: Wicked Wisdom, An Eluardian Instance, St.Exquisite's Confessions, Id Engager

The Stills - Oceans Will Rise (2008)

I lost myself in Indie Rock records. Too many releases and many frustrating records. Oceans Will Rise is not one of them. I first discovered The Montreal band with song "Still in Love Song". Everything I Build and Dinosaurs are my favorites from Oceans Will Rise. You should check out U2-inspired the single too:

The Stills - Being Here

Bloc Party - Intimacy (2008)

Rating: 6.5/10 (decreased from 8.5 after taking a shower, it's been overrated:)
Rush, nervous, funny and sharp Intimacy opens album with Ares and Mercury, both energetic, repetitive amazing indie rock music. Mercury remains the best thing in this recording, sounding between previous A Weekend In The City and Silent Alarm. I loved previous records as well as Intimacy. My only complain is this is short as life of a fly. Because first three tracks are suitable for dancing, this makes it happen faster than it is. There are also Trojan Horse, One Month Off Biko and Zepherus, the songs are amazingly flowing. Biko lets you rest like indie rock version of The Cure. Trojan Horse has power and it proofs that Intimacy won't break out third album syndrome. Trojan Horse follows up the same disco-indie-rock way but i like it. Signs and Better Than Heaven are so epic songs.

Bloc Party expressly deserves these words, they got this strange effect on me even if i'm not a diehard Bloc Party Fan. Their music work fairly when you miss some cool, not easily accessible, even headache rock music act. If you have to chose one between Silent Alarm, A Weekend In The City and Intimacy, you should do that for all of them. Intimacy worths a listen without doubt! One of the Best indie rock albums of the year.

Lady Gaga - The Fame (2008)

Rating:6/10
From start to end Lady Gaga (aka Stefani Germanotta) surprises with her wide musical inspiration. I've read that she influenced by Queen, David Bowie and Madonna. OK, i hate just that they love counting idols to sell more records and recieving positive reviews. She copies some formulas:

Recall list:
Beautiful Dirty Rich recalls Bang Bang by David Bowie
Love Game recalls 4 Minutes by Madonna
Beautiful Dirty Rich recalls Shoes by Liam Kyle Sullivan
Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) recalls Gwen Stefani cross Robyn
Again Again recalls both Queen and David Bowie
I Like It Rough recalls Break The Ice by Britney Spears
The Fame recalls Original Sin by INXS

For the rest, these songs sound like any pop artists such as Sugababes, Britney Spears and even Pink. She's better get used to hearing Gwen Stefani, Robyn, Pussycat Dolls and Fergie comparisons. Honestly song named "Summerboy" surprised me, it's been a great work. Wow so many names, this must be one of the most eclectic music recently. The Fame will crush music lists that's for sure. Because all tracks are written to make the lists. If you have watched oscar winner "Dream Girls" you'll absolutely understand what i think about The Fame. This is well-done commercial dance music despite its fugitive soul.

Highlights: Just Dance, Paparazzi, Money Honey, Again Again, Summerboy

Monkey - Journey To The West (2008)

Damon Albarn composed the musical score while Jamie Hewlett designed the visual concept, set and costumes. Journey To The West describes as "circus opera" and it's a successful, received positive reviews. The album based on the opera which premiered at Manchester International Festival in 2007. Additionally, you'll listen to well-accented Chinese texts during twenty two cuts. It sounds completely obscure without live scenes, but this is some interesting music to share for sure.

Highlights: The Living Sea, Battle In Heaven, Confessions Of A Pig, Sandy The River Demon, Monkey Bee

Oasis - The Shock Of The Lightning (2008)

Oasis return with the first single from their forthcoming seventh studio album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ on 29th September. These guys never bored from what they sound. Another Oasis-like heavy, done and rockable single. I like guitar chords in particular, vocals are exhausted. Cd single also is included with remix by The Chemical Brothers, titled Falling Down.

Comin' up in the early morning,
I feel love in the shock of the lightning,
I fall into the blinding light,
Come in, come out, come in, come out tonight.. lyrics

The Verve - Forth (2008)

Rating:6.5/10
It's exciting to hear Verve's new Forth. Fourth The Verve album is called forth. Opener song "Sit and Wonder" revives my disappointment on bands which have good careers in past. Like flopping new albums of The Who, Echo and the Bunnymen, Radiohead, Happy Mondays, Primal Scream and The Smashing Pumpkins, The Verve stands parallel to this britpop curse. We may sit and wonder why current music doesn't satisfy enough.

Radio-welcoming Love Is Noise, epic Sit and Wonder, dreamy Judas, torpid Numbness, glorious I See Houses...BBC summarises ''The band sound unbelievably healthy here.' I don't know what is healty about a band, but Richard Ashcroft surrenders his unwilling vocals since his solo Keys to the World (2006). I have an opinion that i'm listening to this record because it's The Verve. And Still liquid tracklist makes soft The Verve's music and provides magical moments of britpop days. This is more quality recording compared to 90s britpop music.

Forth has same message all over the songs, recording a new album after those years can be painful sometimes. Other than this, full and long songs, strong guitar chords. Yes, they're back.
Highlights: Sit and Wonder, Love Is Noise, Judas, I See Houses

Mogwai - Batcat EP

Rating:7/10
These melodic and dark guitar shapes are messenger of upcoming Mogwai power. Batcat EP comes three songs, and all of them could be a single by itself. The opener (same titled Batcat) is pushing hard rock song, second ironic one "Stupid Prick Gets Chased By The Police and Loses His Slut Girlfriend" is more Mogwai-like alternative, and last song Devil Rides one and only song with vocal, it's alike indie pop version of Joy Division. A bit drunk songs, but that doesn't mean they're bad. I'm looking forward to hear the new album The Hawk Is Howling.

Fanu & Bill Laswell - Lodge (2008)

Lodge definitely deserves a mention, i googled and it's hard to find something about the album. This is instrumental ambiant music featuring incredible Bill Laswell from underground music scene. While listening to it, you feel guilty, mystery and comfort. This is accurate that Lodge is perfect like any other Laswell collection. If you want to find one of the best night themes, then you should listen to Transfer Code. Astounding! For more info Fanu & Bill Laswell, Lodge (Karlrecords)

Bloc Party - Mercury (2008)

Rating:8.5/10
Mercury, first single from upcoming Bloc Party album. They're in the middle of recording album, and i believe it soon leaks out. Mercury is a bit different, and it sounds like some foolish song. When it comes think of repetitive and robotic Kele vocals My Mercury My Mercury it sounds cool. Be careful i'm not saying it's good but cool. There are more three remix version of the song Hervé, CSS and Flosstrodamus remixes. And these three remixes are amazing remixes for parties. Plus CSS Remix is the most radio-friendly one. Amazing Cds!!!

Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs - Dirt Don't Hurt

No it's not a horror movie poster, but i promise the first single 'My 45' would a great soundtrack for fantastical horror movie Jeepers Creepers. Dirt Don't Hurt mostly follows light of traditional rock n' roll sound. This Lp sounds amazing, dirty and well-rounded. Vocals are so sweet and mature. This is flawless representation.

Keane - Spiralling

Rating:7.5/10
Keane as one of the strongest pop band from Britain, shout Spiralling and it's first single upcoming Perfect Symmetry. Taking chords and keys from beautiful 80s, recalling amazing Spandau ballet (specially hit "Gold") if you consider as this is a grower version. Spiralling gives rainbow effect! Tom Chaplin can grab you cheerfully this time, he shouts out loud!

Calexico - Carried To Dust (2008)

Rating: 5/10
Gypsy, latin, love and acustic guitar. This is ok from the first track. Fifteen okedoke Calexico tracks, promoting sleep and sometimes it's a little boring country music. I love Calexico when they put an interesting song between these boring southwestern American musical styles. Writer's Minor Holiday may be the best example their diverse sound.

Carried To Dust occasionally full of emotion and that becomes romantic in night. Neither Tarantino movies Nor Western music interests me that much. Calexico insistently provides same sound and same songs, whistles and all other lazy theme.

Highlights: Writer's Minor Holiday, House Of Valparaiso, Bend In The Road
