The Music - Strength In Numbers (2008)

Rating:5/10
I was searching about this record. First of all the album title isn't rare, there are lots of Strength In Numbers by other artists. As for The Music, some of their songs are listenable pop songs. I consider them as a pop band, because their previous music provides many obtainable beats. Four years before album "Welcome To The North" is not even memorable for me. I forgot all of the songs, and have never listened for a long time. Now, here it comes new album, but i again won't check their previous songs. I found a review at new community The music magazine. It seems a bit overcharge to me. This record is not shit, it's not a rare thing, though. The vocals are exhausted. I also have no idea about their sound.

Isobel Campbell And Mark Lanegan - Sunday At Devil Dirt - Review

Rating: 8/10
Screaming Trees, Belle & sebastian, and what makes these names so solid? Trees' ugly Mark Lanegan, Sebastian's Isobel Campbell, what's more they're together again in the new album. "Sunday At Devil Dirt" which is their second project together, sounds like more Mark and Isobel dream far away from happiness. It's something like cry out all these dirty plans, disappointments, regrets, city sicknesses. Crying all of them like a sharp knife on your throat to sing the biggest mistakes in your life. But, actually, life is generally sad. Opening ballad, "Seafaring Song" will let you dream the goodness. Then, your (especially Mark's) old friend evilness at the door, and following song The Raven downs on you. Another Mark Lanegan-ish melancholy composition "Who Built The Road" is the most accessible collaboration of the album.

This is more powerful and more cinematic than previous Ballad of the Broken Seas. The more old he gets, more darkness his songs become, and Campbell's back vocals are adorable. After all, closing songs are not that much dark, they're almost sweet despite Mark Lanegan's smoky voice. No need to mention about Serge Gainsbourg, Tom Waits, Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, and Mark Lanegan, you should drink to this album. Devil loves rock, and that's not your only match with him.

7. Long Blondes – Guilt | Youtube
New Long Blondes album "Couples" is worse than the previous one.

Joan of Arc - Boo Human

New UK Singles Top 10

1. Puressence - Don't Know Any Better
Excellent love song from Puressence's don't forget to remember 2007 album.

2. The Cure - The Only One

3. Death Cab for Cutie - No Sunlight (Black Cab Session)

4. Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan - Who Built The Road

5. Scarlett Johansson in-studio performance on AOL Music Sessions
Scarlett Johansson has nothing to prove. She knows it's her A-list status as an actress that opened musical doors for her, but she's not looking to dominate the pop charts. Instead, she views her album of Tom Waits covers, 'Anywhere I Lay My Head,' as a labor of love -- simply something this self-described "go-getter" wanted to do for herself.

6. Supergrass – Rebel In You

7. Spiritualized – Soul On Fire
I've been a Spacemen, Spiritualized fan. But with this record, it's just too slow like watching a snail with sleepy voice. Jason Pierce needs dynamics.

8. Bjork – Wanderlust
Bjork's fantasies.

9. The Futureheads - Radio Heart
Welcome to the very commercial side of indie rock. A stupid, boyish, dickhead song.

10. Dj Ironik - Stay With Me
What a creepy beginning!!!

The Cure - The Only One

I was a little late posting this before Stereogum and p4k. This is another new period The Cure song, like previous "End of the world". Robert Smith makes quite different that pop sound with his unique voice, cracked voice! The Only One keeps it cool.

Pop Levi - Never Never Love

Never Never Love is somewhere beween dance and indie rock music. Pop Levi's voice recalls Michael Jackson. After avarage debut The Return to Form Black Magick Party, he's back with poper Never Never Love. I considered to make this best new music. however, his vocals almost recall many different pop names: Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Jackson, Marc Bolan, George Michael. Pop Levi seriously started to give attantion to r&b. "Never Never Love" doesn't disappoint in the end.

Spiritualized - Songs In A & E

1990 formed England based rock band Spiritualized seemed very disorganized to me on this new album. Spiritualized add eighth studio album to the discography. This time, their unlimited and space-influenced sound continues with Songs In A&E, and it's their first record since 2003's Amazing Grace. I keep this short, and recommend you to buy other amazing record from the year. Such as:
Portishead - Third
Because, this album is by no means good. Or, listen to this, the decision is yours.

Spiritualized - Sweet Talk

Coming music hits
Jennifer Hudson - All Dressed Up In Love Lyrics
Girlicious - Stupid Shit Lyrics
Lil' Wayne - Milli Lyrics
Oasis - I Wanna Live A Dream Lyrics
Hot Chip - Over And Over Lyrics
Snoop Dogg - One Life To Live Lyrics

Death Cab for Cutie - Narrow Stairs

My favorite new record “Narrow Stairs” will arrive in stores and at all online retailers on May 13th. Produced by the member of band’s Chris Walla, “Narrow Stairs” will be preceded by the single, “I Will Possess Your Heart.” “I hope this album is a bit of a surprise for those out there that think they have us all figured out. We can’t wait to share these songs with the world,” states Death Cab bassist Nick Harmer. This sounds very good. (See full track listing below)

1. Bixby Canyon Bridge
2. I Will Possess Your Heart
3. No Sunlight
4. Cath…
5. Talking Bird
6. You Can Do Better Than Me
7. Grapevine Fires
8. Your New Twin Sized Bed
9. Long Division
10. Pity and Fear
11. The Ice Is Getting Thinner

Madonna - Hard Candy

Rating: 3/10
MM picks: Devil Wouldn't Recognize You

Quiet Life - Act Natural

Quiet Life is also title of a Japan song from 80s, and that song was totally haunting. This band is quite far from David Sylvian's Japan, though. The United States based band's members are Sean Spellman, Ryan Spellman, Craig Rupert, Paul Dutton. Folk Rock and Indie Rock maybe sound very overal together. Actually, Folk rock is always a boring style with its lyrics or form. The band's debut "Act Natural" opens the scene pretty good, this first high flying song "Trying To Get Home" turn you on. Then, it becomes soul destroying. I don't know why i'm writing about for this band. Maybe it's because of some songs are full blooded here. Act Natural gives an slobbish impression at times. Or, I don't like Bright Eyes kind of music very much. If you consider four good track that i picked below, these are only energetic songs in the album.

MM picks: Trying To Get Home, Every Dime, Did You Love Me, Head in the Clouds
Rating: 7/10

Scarlett Johansson - Anywhere I Lay My Head

Look carefully to the cover of Scarlett Johansson's new album . You'll see too many times about this new great gloomy record on this blog. Everything has been so depressing featuring a lot of great Tom Waits tracks from Alice, Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Real Gone and Bone Machine. Especially cover of my personal favorite Tom Waits track Green grass by Scarlett Johansson is enormously delightful. You'll also hear Bowie on two tracks Falling down and Fannin' street. I've listened the whole album, but i won't put any mp3 tracks till the release date.
Listen the title track here.
