Antony and the Johnsons - Swanlights

The woman walks as fast as she can, and is carrying her small suitcase. She is waiting for the right train, she suddenly turns back and notices something but she doesn’t bother looking too much. Her body language tells that she is not interested in such a complicated, artistic art cover of the new Antony and the Johnsons album, ‘Swanlights’.

The transformation of a moth to a butterfly, like the transformation of a man to a woman in the first two records, ’Antony and the Johnsons’ (1998) and ‘I Am a Bird Now’ (2005), the experimental very independent music band gives us a very catchy album. At their highest point this reaches the epic emotional songs such as “Thank You for Your Love”, “The Great White Ocean” and the killer queen of the album “Fletta”, where singer Antony Hegarty meets with a creepy form of angel voice, Bjork.

Repeating ‘ Thank You’ for a hundred times on the first single and likewise his same obsession in repeating ‘Everything is New’ in the opener, Antony and The Johnsons blends all their skills up to this time, to produce their music flawlessly, releasing the best album of the year.

I lean against to the Swanlight art cover in the tube station, and went onto my train. There were this lyrics playing in my ears ‘When my mind was broken into a thousand pieces…’

CLAPS

CLAPS, a minimal synth pop band from Minneapolis, MN. They just released their second EP, No Party on Guilt Ridden pop. I checked their song, and they sound cool! But, there is a problem. Why so sad?

I decided to put the new artists to a seperate category which I would called "The first impression". The reason of doing that I recieve a lot of emails from very talented new musicians and bands. I have to ask myself that , why I not put all of them under this category?

M4A: CLAPS - Lost

Dhana - Not Enough

The lead singer of Taxi Doll, Dhana ventures into uncharted creative territory with the release of “The Confessions of Lily Rogue,” a five song EP that explores her darker, more fragile and emotional sides. She adds, “It is in the light and dark pieces in which we are reflected. Often our pain and frailty is the source of our greatest strength; I wanted to write about that duality through Lily Rogue.”

I don't know if you like chicks like Katy Perry, Alisson Goldfrapp and maybe Lily Allen. Dhana may go in the middle of same tune with those names, and have got the hypnotising female voice.

Antony and the Johnsons - Thank You for Your Love (Live on Later with Jools Holland)

I like to write down one of the good comments here about the song "Who the fuck is this talentless whineing poof? Why doesn't someone put the fat cunt out of his and my misery?". Enjoy the brilliant version:

Kluas Nomi - Simple Man

Something like today's genius Antony Hegarty, Klaus Nomi was a genius of his era with his incredible voice and unusual appearance. I believe that some of the wise musicians just steal from these people to bring something very original today. Patrick Wolf's "Hard Times" (from Bachelor album) can be a good example of Klaus Nomi's power based on music keep going on the earth. It is a shame he died because of AIDS. However Nomi's glorious voice still echos on this site.

David Sylvian's new compilation Sleepwalkers features his greatest collaborations from the ‘00s, including World Citizen with Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Nine Horses project, and the new song Five Lines, a collaboration with Dai Fujikura. It's been very good compilation which includes side-project hits such as "Money For All", "Ballad of a Deadman" and for sure "World Citizen". A Sylvian fan should not miss this record out!

Antony and The Johnsons - "Thank You For Your Love" Video

"Thank You For Your Love" is the first single from Antony and the Johnsons' forthcoming full-length Swanlights.

The video is so impressive, with black-and-white footage of a man mugging for the camera, leads to a teenager dreams, happy man dressen in woman clothes,  in the end he turns to a woman. I never came across such a wonderful match of a song with its video before, amazing!
