Ten is Pearl Jam's first album, released on August 27, 1991 through Epic Records.
In 1998 Q magazine readers voted Ten the 54th greatest album of all time; in 2003 the TV network VH1 placed it at number 79. It is number 207 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.
While the song "Black" charted #3 on the Mainstream Rock charts, it was never actually released as a single.
Several tracks on the album were recorded using binaural recording techniques, hence the title. These can usually be identified by a warm sound to the music, such as in "Of The Girl".
The album contains a hidden track entitled "Writer's Block". It occurs several minutes after the last track "Parting Ways" has finished, and is the sound of the keys on Eddie's typewriter being aggressively hit.
