The Age Of The Understatement is a side project of Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and Arcade Fire arranger Owen Pallets. Most of first impressions may say that 'This sounds better than a side project'.
The sound of the late 60's, nostalgy, impressive vocal performance of the young vocal, melodic guitar chords, prolific songwriting, deserve your sympathy for this new project. It's definitely successful record. I'm sure this will put in some dark songs to Arctic Monkeys' following album. Because i smell of some Scott Walker and Lee Hazlewood magic. I mean The Last Shadow Puppets loves oldies.
Some songs are short and suffocating here, but that doesn't mean that they're not memorable. Turners' songwriting skill moves the tunes one step forward, then Arctic Monkeys fan should get this orchestral pop album.
