Arid - All Things Come in Waves

“Why do you run” should warm the hearts of fans of Belgian pop at the tail end of 2007. This scintillating pop single bears good tidings. To celebrate the group’s tenth anniversary, Arid are finally releasing their third album, five years after “All is quiet now”. Despite the clear success of their first two albums, the vocalist Jasper Steverlinck took the chance to go solo, with this period of his career being marked by the successful cover of David Bowie’s “Life on Mars”, followed by his first solo record. Singles such as “Life” and “Believer” are to date unique in the history of Belgian rock, so it is fantastic to see Arid back in great form. Thanks to this exceptional singer, their elegant and refined brand of rock with twirling guitars contains many more nuances than all the Coldplay and Placebo tunes put together. THE MEDIADIS.COM REVIEW

MM review
This record absolutely deserves a listen. I'm amazed that Jasper Steverlinck has improved his vocals so much. I'm also letting you know about their best song "You Are". If you looking for simple lyrics with combination of piano /guitar driven catchy melodies, discover Arid! I want write more about this great record, and i'll do it.

New Music Videos and Mp3s

1. Of Montreal - Jimmy
(M.I.A. / Parvati Khan cover)
This excellent cover proves that covers aren't only singing a popular song again, it's already recreating again and again the song like Of Montreal did. This time, Jimmy becomes an electro-glam disco-pop hit.
Note: M.I.A and Of Montreal are included in Top 50 Records 2007

2. Laura Marling - Ghosts

Ghosts is taken from the forthcoming album "Alas I Cannot Swim" which is available to pre-order in a Song Box format that includes CD, entry to a Song Box gig and album mementos.

3. Kelly Rowland - Work (Put It In)

4. Mary J Blige - Just Fine

5. Bob Mould – The Silence Between Us (7”)
His new album District Line has been another disappointment for me after Body of Song (2005).

Goldfrapp - Alison Goldfrapp

I see that some people don't agree with my opinion on Seventh Tree. If you consider Felt Mountain, Seventh Tree is an avarage record, there is no other way, this is it. But, this doesn't mean that i don't like Goldfrapp, i'm a HUGE fan. I love music. If i didn't like this amazing duo, i'd never post about it. Alison Goldfrapp, a goddess...

Neon Neon - I Lust U

Neon Neon is the artist name for the combined musical powers of Los Angeles based producer Boom Bip and Super Furry Animals main man and solo star Gruff Rhys. The single from the electro-pop duo features Cate Le Bon on vocals, and will appear on the band’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Stainless Style’, also expected to be released in March. This song reminds me the beautiful 80s.

Modern Love Songs Vol.1

After highly appreciated Go to Indie Music Club vol.1 with its nearly 100 download on first day, i decided to collect another album, Modern Love Songs Vol.1. A broken voice Kristin Hersh singing "I married a boxer to keep me from fighting" opens my new Modern Love Songs Vol.1 collection. Dionne Warwick breaks your heart with Walk On By, a Burt Bacharach song. Seal had already covered the song before, but Seal comes with an amazing love song "If I Could", a duet with Joni Mitchell. Mitchell's big power comes out of its shell by Blue. It's a perfect modern composition, that's why everyone should know her works. Wait!, The Carpenters preforming nostalgic Rainbow Connection, words and music by Kenneth Asher and Paul Williams, The Rainbow Connection was mainly for Kermit from the Muppet Show. They recorded it from about 1979. After all great first five track, Kevin Ayers becomes a great listening experience, he always hides power of his talent. It's hard to love Kevin Ayers songs at first spin, and in my view Farewell Again is the most charming song of this compilation. I always put a cover to my playlists, that habit catches me here again, it's a dreamy Syd Barrett cover, a strong love song. An amazing #1 hit song from 80s, and also a duet, Endless Love closes my Modern Love Songs Vol.1 album.

Top Modern Love Songs
1. Kristin Hersh - Hips And Makers
2. Seal - If I Could (feat. Joni Mitchell)
3. Joni Mitchell - Blue
4. Dionne Warwick - Walk On By
5. Carpenters - The Rainbow Connection
6. Kevin Ayers - Farewell Again (Another Dawn)
7. Livid - love song (Syd Barrett Cover)

Destroyer - Trouble in Dreams

Dan Bejar will return this spring with his ninth full-length record as Destroyer, "Trouble in Dreams." The 11-song set is due March 18 under Merge Records and includes two songs that date back to Bejar's work with Swan Lake and his previous album, "Destroyer's Rubies."

"I think I'm learning more and more about the recording process as these records beneath my belt start to pile up," Bejar says. "Maybe having done all these records, and being conscious of the fact that I am working with players and 'producers' who are really good at what they do, gave me the confidence to try and record an album of songs, the bulk of which I had no idea how they were supposed to 'go.'"

Bejar plans to take Destroyer on the road in April and May, with dates to be announced. I'm listening this record twice a day. It grows on me, but it still early to write something about Trouble in Dreams. Leopard of Honor is a catchy new hit, that's all I know. You already know the first single, Foam Hands.

Stephen Malkmus - Baby C'monif you wonder my opinions about his new record Real Emotional Trash, i'll post it as soon as i finish my twelve listening.

Morrissey - That's How People Grow Up

"That's How People Grow Up" is a 2008 single by british singer/songwriter Morrissey. The song will be appear in his forthcoming Greatest Hits album. Long time Morrissey fellow musician Boz Boorer is making this his first Morrissey single since Satan Rejected My Soul, from Maladjusted (1997). The song also features Kristeen Young, who appeared most of moz's 2006/2007 tours, on vocals.

"That's How People Grow Up" doesn't surprise you, if you're long time Morrissey fan like me. On the other hand that doesn't mean the single is a bad song. The melody works great, it's just as same as any previous near future Morrissey single. Moz has nothing to prove, but we expect to see stronger vision of his art, don't we?

Great Indie, Alternative Rock Music

These are mostly indie rock records in their own original style. What i mean is, you can find great original tracks on each of these such as: Discotrax by Ladytron, Higher Than the Sun by Primal Scream or crushing girl group anthem Love Love Love by The Organ . For example Ladytron features amazing female vocals with sad electronic beats. The National could be excellent with bottle of wine or Screamadelica is one of the most original record of all time. These are bonafide records. You can download full songs using rapidshare links, but don't forget it's illegal and i'll delete them soon.
Music of Love:

The National - Alligator
This is the first album i have heard from The National. I must say that I am very impressed.

Elliott Smith - Roman Candle
Elliott Smith is a complete master. although each of his albums continually grow musically, this first album absolutely takes the cake. The beautiful acoustic quality makes it powerful and raw. His voice is a gorgeous whisper with a sickening amount of emotion behind it.

Xiu Xiu - Women As Lovers

One of my recent favorite bands Xiu Xiu records another awesome thing, which is named "Women as Lovers", and included with a new Under Pressure (Queen&Bowie) cover. Honestly i first listened up this amazing cover, it's been an extra ordinary and successful version than any other Under Pressure covers. If you consider listening previous untouchable, deep and unapproachable Xiu Xiu albums, this album is more reachable than any of them. It's full of emotion, and i really have to appreciate these tracks, each of them is charming. I can't say that this is the best expression of Xiu Xiu's sad music, but Jamie Stewart's confrontational vocals are the best for sure. With this new album, i can say this the best new music. My song picks are: Gayle Lynn, Master of the bump, No friend oh!, The Leash, Under Pressure feat. Michael Gira.

Mahjongg - Kontpab - Review

A Chicago based indie electronic ( with their Tropical / Industrial / Minimalist sound ) band which I liked at first listen, releases Kontpab. It basically warns the human race of the mass "funneling" of the populace minds into The Grid. Their sound is as same as any indie electronic bands that only think beats beats and some interesting noises on and on. However there are the songs which you can't ignore at here. Second track "Problems" makes strong my belief in Mahjongg. Totally electronic and with its similarity to 8-bit video game sounds, Tell the Police the Truth becomes another great found on this record. Despite its full of adventure-loving and interesting sound, Kontpab doesn't provide something fairly evergreen.

Vampire Weekend

I've recently discovered this New York based buzz band, and you should hear their relaxing pop song "M79". I like to hear unmixed indie rock songs. "M79" isn't the only good song of them, there are bunch of nice cuts on their new self-titled record such as Mansard Roof, Oxford Comma and A-Punk. And they mostly sound like XTC or Rusted Root, you know them, they're cool. Ok here comes video of Ecstasy by Rusted Root. If you like entertaining, joyful indie rock bands, Vampire Weekend is for you. Vampire Weekend talks about the song "M79":

We just finished recording this song too. The final version is very different than this one. Rostam played piano here so I feel like it has a kind of honky-tonk vibe. On the album, there are a lot of different instruments and string arrangements. It’s named after a bus in Manhattan that goes across Central Park. There are usually a lot of old people on it — maybe going to a museum or hospital on the Upper East Side.

I hope they gain some attention, because this album grows on me.

Nico - Chelsea Girl

It's been a long time since i last wrote for MM classics section. What a heaven sent voice Nico has. How can be a voice with perfect manner of telling in every song. This unique german-accented voice is presented over austere strings and, in one case, electric guitar on a series of songs reminiscent of her work with the Velvet Underground and written by Velvets John Cale and Lou Reed. Other songs (some unrecorded elsewhere) were written by a young Jackson Browne. I wanted to thank you Nico with my handmade artwork for Chelsea Girl record which i made in twenty minutes. I think Drawing a picture of her is better than writing stupid words about this masterpiece.

Nico - Chelsea Girl
Nico - The Fairest of the Seasons

The Bluetones - Expecting to Fly

The Bluetones is completely different for me, i play their Bluetonic, Talking to Clarry, Things Change and other great songs from their best effort Expecting to Fly at times. You'll love this Britpop band with this one of 90s excellent record. Ok, sing along with amazing solo guitar on beginning of Bluetonic, it's a real rock song. When you feel those unexplainable passions inside of you, i think you find rock music there. It's not about guitar, noise or another material. It's absolutely about living that moment with a certain smile on your face like The Bluetones sings on their song, Bluetonic. "Expecting to Fly", which is a presentation of brilliant british rock sound with many delicious moments on guitar chords, had reached to the top of the charts upon its release in early 1996. You see that colourful artwork, the record is as beautiful as that bird's amazing tail. Thank you The Bluetones!

The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride - Review

Rating: 9.5/10
Taking the name from the Screamin' Jay Hawkins song "Big Yellow Coat, my favorite bonelazy rock band (mostly John Darnielle himself as a band) this time write excellent thirteen songs which almost make me to jumb and shout 'Hell Yes'. It's a future classic, an underground treasure... Think of unique impression Cocteau Twins' Treasure Record, now Heretic Pride is like country version of that dream pop music. I tried to play them together, the result comes like a miracle. This record must be my new favorite record. The disc was produced by John Vanderslice and Scott Solter at Prairie Sun Studio, i didn't surprise to it, because record sounds so amazing and so good. He's an indie god but noone explores his records.

John Darnielle appears with his the agriest vocal contribution on some of the songs; Heretic Pride, In The Craters On The Moon, Lovecraft In Brooklyn and So Desprate. Lyrics are also essential like previous the Mountain Goats, mature, ironic, bright... you'll notice after playing my picks below.

Emotional classics like R.E.M.'s Automatic for the People, Coctea Twins' Treasure or Neutral Milk Hotel's In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, this record "Heretic Pride" provides timeless music. A must have! Believe to your own ears. The record's out on the 19th February.
MM picks: Heretic Pride, So Desperate, In The Craters On The Moon, Lovecraft In Brooklyn

The Mountain Goats - In The Craters On The Moon
