"We Started Nothing"- The Ting Tings

This was a really entertaining album to listen to. It was a lot of fun to have playing as I worked, and it’s overall energy kept me feeling energized too. There were a lot of high points in the album, like the oft played ‘Shut Up and Let Me Go’ and ‘That’s Not My Name’, with heavy beats and an undeniable catchy factor (which is probably why the former ended up in a coveted iPod commercial). The only low point was ‘Impacilla Carpisung’ which is a mystery to me. It doesn’t fit in with the other songs. It’s too quiet, it’s dull and sticky sounding, and comes off as filler.

The Tings Tings may be a new ‘It’ band with, perhaps, more hype than they can live up to, but there’s substance to them. They’ve created an album to please the masses and they beat out uncluttered entertainment. It’s creative enough to be clever, angry enough to be cool, and original enough to grab some attention. It’s fun, it’s rhythmic, it’s loud, it’s catchy, and it’s very Now. It’s not going to change the face of music. But it will get stuck in your head.

i totally agree with what you wrote.
Not a revolutionary album, but a really cool LP to play while you're at a party with friends drinking cocktails.
