Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
If You're Feeling Sinister (1996) is the second album from Scottish pop group Belle & Sebastian.Sinister is widely considered to be an indie pop classic, and has garnered a cult following among fans.
Belle and Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister" is an album of extroardinary folk songs that becomes an extraordinary experience when you listen through your heart.
'If You're Feeling Sinister' is an impressive record. I'm awed every time I hear "The Stars of Track and Field". The musical influences of Bob Dylan and The Velvet Underground can be heard on "Mayfly", and "The Boy Done Wrong Again" sounds like it was written for Nico to sing. In fact, the vocal delivery across the entire album owes a lot to Nico.
Like any band truly worth their mettle, Belle & Sebastian are something of an acquired taste — too twee and crystal-clean tuneful to appeal to fans of Massive Attack and Primal Scream; too '90s-ironic and self-consciously clever to make much of a dent in the Donovan and Petula Clark crowd.
