Dave Matthews Band - The Central Park Concert

The Central Park Concert is a milestone in the Dave Matthews Band's career. The band performed a free concert on September 24, 2003 on the Great Lawn of Central Park in New York, New York in front of a crowd of almost 100 000. It is still the largest crowd the Dave Matthews Band has played for. Although free, the show was a benefit concert for the public schools of New York City.

The concert was broadcast live over the internet on America Online.

The CD and DVD release captures the concert perfectly, portraying the high energy level the band was playing at throughout 2003. The concert features a solid mix of older hits with newer tunes. Warren Haynes of Gov't Mule and the Allman Brothers' Band guests on electric guitar and vocals for two songs, bringing the concert to an even higher energy level. Regarded by many fans as the high point in the Dave Matthews Band's career, the Central Park Concert is a favorite among new listeners as well.
