Post Rock/Experimental
Battles' first album, "Mirrored" is completely full of songs that are both catchy and experimental. Race In, Leyendecker are good examples; While "Race In," get your attention by joyful atmosphere of the music, "Atlas" has a nice vocal edge that reminds to us nothing we've heard before. However it's possible to see well-calculated guitar hooks, spaced rhythms and
gorgeous electronics on this record, moreover this is entirely melodic one. It's not like other hyped and dull experimental records. And if you like names like The Knife, Animal Collective, you'll fall in love with this.
This year, i haven't been surprised many times except "Mirrored", so clever and impresive with its cutting edges. A record that you can discover every time something new. Timeless!
MM picks: Race In, Leyendecker, Rainbow, Tonto, Tij

Hi,
You're absolutely right on this one!
I don't know - for what they're trying to do, it's just not *tight* enough. Foals do it a lot better.
