Built To Spill - You in Reverse
Martsch's voice doesn't sound old and lifeless yet. Their most guitar-centric record since Perfect From Now On if not their debut. "Liar" is one of their best songs. Sometimes I forget I'm listening to it when it's on, but other than that it's one of their most passionate and raw albums, which is a feat for such an established and aged group.
Notes: Doug Martsch (vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion); Jim Roth, Brett Netson (guitar); Brett Nelson (bass guitar); Scott Plouf (drums, percussion). Additional personnel: Steven Wray Lobdell (various instruments); Sam Coomes (organ). Recording information: Audible Alchemy, Portland, Oregon (2006).
