Boris - Statement

Boris - Smile (Rating: 9/10)
My previously favorited rock record Smile throws great songs like Statement which is the latest single. Statement loves to fuck your ears, noisy music behind liquid vocal running. Still my favorite new Boris song is Flower Sun Rain, and do not forget buying and listening Smile.

Spandau Ballet - To Cut A Long Story Short

The spiky synth pop of Spandau Ballet's first single, "To Cut a Long Story Short," owes more to the seemingly uncommercial likes of early Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark than to the smooth, soulful pop hits that turned the bandmembers into megastars within the year. Built on not much more than a dirty, overdriven synth sound and a stomping Gary Glitter-like backbeat under Tony Hadley's herky-jerky vocal tics, "To Cut a Long Story Short" is almost minimalist, but it has an infectious, bubblegummy quality that links it to the kind of gloriously dumb glam rock one-hit wonders that undoubtedly helped inspire the future Spandaus at an impressionable age. If the group had never gone on to much, this would likely be considered a minor lost classic of the early-'80s U.K. synth pop scene; as it stands, it's so unlike Spandau Ballet's later, bigger hits that it's largely forgotten.

Breeders - Mountain Battles

Amazing and unique 90s alternative rock band returns after a six-year absence. Mountain Battles will be released on 07 April 2007. I gave my first listening to the new record, it's sure a complicated, dark, strange and deeply rocking record. Mountain Battles does not disappoint Breeders fan, and they also shouldn't expect another "Last Splash". This is good, and i'm sure you'll enjoy music. The song named with Istanbul got my whole attention, because the song takes the name from city where i live at the moment, a very original tune at the same time. You should check out Mountain Battles, if you like rock music both original and creative. Kim's unique voice is already a main reason to hear this.
MM picks: We're Gonna Rise, Spark, Istanbul

Supergrass - Diamond Hoo Ha Man

Supergrass know how to always remain cool! Their debut I Should Coco made it into the pop charts. Previous record Road to Rouen is my favorite which has three perfect Supergrass cut, and they're St. Petersburg, Road to Rouen and Sad Girl. They had relesead five all good record And with Diamond Hoo Ha, they continue to play roots lie in the infectiously catchy punk-pop music. Diamond Hoo Ha is kinda likeable, it's one of nice rock records i loved in 2008.

The Kills - Midnight Boom

Garage Punk band The Kills consists of vocalist/guitarist VV (aka Alison Mosshart) formerly of the Florida punk band Discount, and drummer/guitarist/vocalist Hotel (aka Jamie Hince). Midnight Boom is the third studio release due March 18 via Domino Records.

The Kills return with their 2nd single 'Cheap and Cheerful' on 3rd March from the impending new album 'Midnight Boom' out a week later on 10th March. It's a thumping stab of militant R&B beats and mantra of insurgent demands is like a magnet towards the dancefloor.

The Superimposers - Harpsichord Treacle

The Superimposers' new album is called ‘Harpsichord Treacle’, it’s a line from a song hidden away in the wonderfulsound libraries’ vaults. Like treacle oozing from a harpsichord.

Harpsichord Treacle is more "Superimposed" goodness with plenty of peace, love and harmonies going on. Anyway, this is not seriously something very new, it just keeps reminding 60s' soft and lush melodies. I loved the song "Golden" in particular.

Tindersticks - The Hungry Saw - Review

The Hungry Saw
Rating:10/10
Once you discover Tindersticks, you will play their music for a long time. Romanticism is the greatest gift God gave to us. Some people think that they are not romantic because they haven’t discovered it yet. You might need a spark to wake this emotion. Watch old movies like Casablanca , Woody Allen's Manhattan, or the two romantic masterpieces of Richard Linklater, Before Sunset and Before Sunrise...and listen to Tindersticks' albums. They were one of the most original and distinctive British acts of the '90s. They're quite different, both original and bizarre, but definitely one of the most romantic bands in the world.

The album, The Hungry Saw is a good example of complex song writing and educated music. Stuart   ll Staples wrote most of the songs. In 2007, three of the original band, Staples, Boulter and Fraser, spent time writing and recording in a newly equipped studio in Limousin, France. They were joined by Thomas Belhom on drums and Dan McKinna on bass, with Ian Caple engineering. This record is as good as any Tindersticks album. ‘All The Love’ and ‘Yesterday Tomorrows’ are two brilliant keytracks without doubt. Moreover the soundtrack-like ‘Feel The Sun’ is their favourable best new love ballad. 'E Type' is joyful and has wonderful tunes. This Nottingham based critically acclaimed band again proves themselves. A modern classic.

MM picks: Yesterday Tomorrows, Feel The Sun, E Type, The Other Side Of The World, Boobar

Best Albums of 90s Modern Rock

Do not mind anything that anyone tells you about modern rock and what is not modern rock. It just starts with late 1970s punk (some thinks INXS, The Cure, Morrissey, Depeche Mode, and Erasure as modern rock artists during the 1980s), and modern rock is all about to leave classic rock on your back... I'm not sure that these are all modern rock. Anyway, these albums are damn fucking great!

Robyn Hitchcock - Shadow Cat

After watching a long western The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, it was a wonderful way to train my ears to listen to the sounds from English singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock. What i listened wasnt my favorite Hitchcock record "I Often Dream of Trains", it was the new rarities album which is named Shadow Cat (2008). This album aint much different from any previous albums of him, it's quite slow and all of the songs drive back to you memories, dreams or some place else that is not here. Shadow Cat needs more spin to understand magic of music, like your child which needs attention to grow up. So, you watch how melodies growing on your ears. Emotional and noteworthy tune Statue With A Walkman, great second track Love Affair, moreover an amazing Hendrix cover The Wind Cries Mary, all of these polish his singer/songwriter and show unique talent of the long time musician.
You can order Shadow Cat.

Boris - Smile

Rating: 9/10
Smile clearly proves that rock n' roll never dies in any language or in any form of direction of this music. For me, Boris is also one of the most amazing, shoking and fuc*ing rock band in these days.

Best of Rock n' Roll Music

1. The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love?
2. T.rex - Solid Gold Easy Action
3. Elvis Costello - Pump It Up
4. Fleedwood mac - Your Own Way
5. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Have You Ever Seen The Rain
6. Bob Dylan - Mr. Tambourine Man
7. David Bowie - Young Americans
8. The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
9. Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road
10. Roy Orbison - In Dreams
11. Elvis Presley - Summer Kisses Winter Tears

For a this kind of rock songs collection, there aren't any opening songs better than Pete Shelley's well-known masterpiece "Ever Fallen in Love?". Its hooky melodies, speed and emotional choruses make it one of the most original classic rock songs ever written. Then, "Solid Gold Easy Action" plays with its inventive roots for the glam rock genre of music. Following that you'll hear a good few classic rock tunes from Fleedwood mac to Bob Dylan... All the song had been picked by me, and the most interesting one surely becomes the closing song, Summer Kisses Winter Tears.

Nada Surf - Lucky

Vocalist Matthew Caws talks about Lucky:

I tend to be pretty hopeful about things further in the future, but full of anxiety about the next eight hours,” jokes Caws. “Unlike my friend John Flansburgh from They Might Be Giants, who says he's manic depressive without the depression, I think I'm manic depressive without the mania. Yet I'm ready to be cheerful at the drop of a reason. I’m always looking for rapture in music.
